| Beth Orton – Pieces of Sky Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| such a beautiful song... | |
| M. Ward – I'll Be Yr Bird Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| actually i was wrong, it was started by the beats. | |
| M. Ward – I'll Be Yr Bird Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "yr." is a valid abbreviation of "your" and wasnt really invented by anybody. it's just not really used much these days and some people use it stylistically because of that. | |
| Neil Young – Powderfinger Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think wetcoaster is definitely right. this song in no way sounds like it takes place in the 19th century. the boat is white, with numbers on the side and a red beacon, and it makes waves... it definitely sounds like some type of law enforcement boat that's coming for the family in the song. and i think that he did write it specifically for lynyrd skynyrd, and it was described as southern, but i could be wrong. |

| Beth Orton – Feral Children Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the first line should be "sat on her steps in the pouring rain" | |
| Lovers – Ginger Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| aero, i thought it was "shed" because that makes more sense with the next line about the herd. but it is pretty hard to make out the lyrics of this song, so i could be wrong altogether. | |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Sister Lyrics | 19 years ago |
in one version that i have, this verse appears between the 2nd and 3rd verses: Oh sister, sweet brown and comely, I will be milking with you making fun of me Now that my moods are not what they used to be There has been no one alive laying next to me For such a long time |
| Dave Matthews Band – Monkey Man Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i always felt this song might have political meaning, though i could be wrong & don't wish to start a debate however, i've heard some things said in live shows that are similar to the words of this song that definitely were of a political nature. |

| Grateful Dead – Brokedown Palace Lyrics | 20 years ago |
my first impression upon hearing this and knowing the date it was written is that it's about someone who lived in the haight / san francisco in the 60s leaving it after it went to shit and remembering what it used to be. but maybe i'm wrong. |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
for those who are interested, the live version off jittery joe's has some slight changes, especially in the first stanza. i think it's more powerful this way: daddy please hear this song that i sing in your heart there's a spark that just screams for a lover to bring a child to your arms that could lay as you sleep and love all that you are like your boy used to be before he went and tore at your heart |
| The Kinks – Lola Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i always assumed it was about a transvestite as well but when it says, 'i'm glad i'm a man, and so is lola' i think theyr'e just saying lola is also glad he's a man. grammatically that makes more sense, although i always assumed it to mean lola was a man. this doesn't mean lola ISN'T a man... it just means it's still up in the air. my sister thinks lola's just a masculine woman and the song's more about gender confusion and submission/dominance etc. |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Engine Lyrics | 21 years ago |
it seems to say that in both versions i have, actually no matter how hard i try, i can't hear 'the world is all bending and breaking from me', although it does sound very mangum-esque |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Maybe I'm just fucked up but I always think that this and King of Carrot flowers Pt. 1 are about incest... Great songs though. |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This is an insanely good song, but something important: it never says "your dad", just "dad", sort of implying they're related. I always connected this to Two-Headed Boy pt. 2 for that reason... | |
