Nine Inch Nails – Hurt Lyrics

I have to admit that I also enjoy the Johnny Cash version better. But this is the only song that I have heard by that artist. I found it very interesting that in the version I heard, Cash said, "I wear this crown of thorns." Perhaps that is just the radio edit. But nonetheless, Cash's scratchy, worn voice adds a very unique and oppropriate tone to the song. The original is lacking the deep, lost emotion that I find in the cover.

I hope that one day everyone will learn that you can't give someone else advice. A person can only share their personal ideas; but they can't expect other people to follow them. I hope that I will never again tell someone that they are wrong; I never want to tell someone what they should do. I am not lost. I have found true love before, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am simply saying that I love myself as well. I believe I have found my holy grail. I am not currently in love, which is a shame, but I know that my life is not empty because of that lack. I don't really care if anyone else agrees with me. I don’t write late-night messages with dreams of gathering followers. I am right about me, and you are right about you. There should never be a conflict. And as for the song: just because it is about masturbation, doesn't mean it isn't about so much more. I am not all that ignorant. Barenaked Ladies – It's Only Me (The Wizard of Magicland) Lyrics

What an incredible song. I didn't know that I was a Barenaked Ladies fan until I heard this song. It has such an incredible message. "Never put others above you." I hope that I never throw away everything for one person. What if that person leaves? Then I will have nothing. I will never turn my back on myself, so I will always love myself. I will always understand myself better than anyone else will ever understand me, and better than I will ever understand anyone else. I believe that I truly love myself, and that this feeling has allowed me to love so many other people. Whether or not I am loved in return from those other people is not the point. The point is that I have found that passion inside myself. This makes me love myself even more, and that is much better anyway. Even when I have no one, I still have everyone. And even when I have nothing, I still have everything. I can go and search the world for my answers, but I guarantee that the journey will end inside myself. I have been known to say: “I had the damn cup in my back pocket all along” (in reference to the Holy Grail).

I was trying to figure out why we have our downs. What do we get from them? Maybe they are reactions to our ups. I don't know, but now, I do know that remembering our ups makes our downs quickly fade. Listening to this song helps me to define that hope. It seems very sad, but don't miss the message.

Weezer – Only in Dreams Lyrics

I must agree with you guys that this song is incredible live. You can forget everything else while you are listening to an incredible song like this one. Music in general (but mainly w/ Weezer for me) is an absolute representation of everything that happens in our lives. A song can define depression, joy, love, lust, confusion, communication, sex, political issues, anger, and many other things. This song, as well as a few other Weezer songs, helped me to define my own desires when I was younger. I know that many people have felt the same way about them. They have given words to the feelings of a generation raised by working parents who have had no one to turn to. We have struggled with painful internal conflicts, because no one else was there to help us. But now, as we grow up, we have learned the things that are parents never taught us. We have learned how to live our lives without falling victim to fear (hopefully).

I like this song because it uses some neat techniques to express lust, love, confusion, and lack of communication. I appreciate their ability to leave all the cliche styles in the dust, and still sing about something that everyone can relate to. This song has been close to me from the first week that pinkerton came out. Spread the word.

Damn! Why is it that everyone instantly makes these ridiculous Freudian assumptions? Not everything is just about fucking. PsychoNavigator, you are on the right track. Gena, where the Hell did you get age 15 from? That's not in the song. The words ''hike up your skirt a lil more and show your world to me'' may be about sex, but sex doesn't have to be bad. One day you guys might learn that sex can either be an empty fluid exchange or a beautiful expression of love (not that there aren't many things in between). Look at lines like "You've got your ball, you've got your chain, tied to me tight, tie me up again." It seems pretty clear that he believes he is trying to return to some past relationship. When he says that he is staring through a window he is symbolizing what he feels when he wants something that he cannot have.

Jimmy Durante – Make Someone Happy Lyrics

This is a great song that's well known for being on the soundtrack for "Sleepless in Seatle." The movie is just okay (good for getting girls in the mood i suppose), but the soundtrack is awesome. I am the one that submitted this song and I certainly like it alot, but I disagree with the message a little. I believe that ever-lasting relationships that make people happy should not be limited to only one person. I have close friends that I simply love, they have changed my life and made me happy. Try to make every good friend you know happy, they will return the same.

I love this song very much, but I think we should stop and think about it for a moment. It is an incredible song, but what about the concept? I believe the idea of "more than words" is far greater. Do you know that feeling? Sometimes when you look into her [or his] eyes, both of you just know. That is much more of a commitment.
