Aside from being one of the best songs ever, Mudshovel is about a dysfunctional relationship, one in which the guy knows the girl is cheating on him. So, to get back at the girl, the guy cheats on her. (Hence the last chorus lyric changes.)
Mudshovel is also a term for anal sex that one of Aaron's friends used, and he said he'd name a song after it and mudshovel was born. Mudshovel has nothing to do with the song, though. |

Almost humorous viewpoint from the eyes of a smoking addict. Almost egotistical, until you realize the song is sort of making fun of said addict. In short, song about an addict who knows he's screwed. |
