talk about a destructive song. i think perhaps towards the end we find out that the relationship was about sex. 'special death' could be an illusion to 'le petite morte' or the "little death". which is (god i'm being wordy) the depressed feeling a woman can sometimes have after orgasm. which can also allude to a feeling of detachment that could result from sex without love.
SO, maybe she's been with this guy, but for him it's just sex. and she figures it out. she was 'humbled' by all this serene, crazy beauty, but then learns the truth about it. which is, disaster and destruction. she realizes that she can't go on that way. she was, in a sense, destroyed. |

I think it's about wanting something you can't have, but even that thing you desire so much isn't what you need. "She tastes like the real thing." in a world full of fakeness, he wants desperatly to believe that this one is "the real thing." He's willing to be fake himself. Have you ever seen the shel silverstein poem about the woodpecker and the rubber tree? it just keeps pecking anyway. it's absolute desperation. |

i have no idea what this means. perhaps a girl who's emotionally detached, or doesn't want to lookfor/find love because she just doesn't care. "Its such an icy feeling." "given half her life to people she hates now". she thinks that if she's alone, she won't waste time on people that will hurt her/screw things up. |
