After listening to the song, I thought it was about breaking up someone you love, and trying to capture the moment when it was fresh a beautiful. After seeing the video (WHICH IS AMAZING!) I think it could also be about losing a loved one. The lines I had to find you, Tell you I need you, make me think he never got a chance to say goodbye, and then the line: tell me you love me, come back and haunt me, sounds like he wants to keep her close... I dunno though. Great song, best one on the CD

I love this song! Its the best on the album, and I could listen to it over and over again. I think what Chris is talking about is how a relationship fell through, and he tries to figure out what went wrong in very linear (scientific) ways. However, no matter how he looks at it, he can't figure out just what went wrong; the equation never adds up. Such a beautifully sung song.
