like Glycerine_Kt said...well, chemically, part of the meaning is an oily, vicious liquid, colorless and odorless...i think by the meaning of this song is pretty much what she said. it's about losin someone who obviously meant so much...like losing the sweetness of his life. one moment, she's there and then the next she's not. though troublesome, he doesn't seem to mind. while she is there, it's good enough for him.

Is this even qualified as music? And to IheartNSync...what are you talking about, "the song is about music taking control". HAHA that's about the stupidest thing i've heard...well beside the fact that youheartNSync. you want a song about music overcoming, listen to Cold "Bleed". now that's music. Anyone can sing like Britney Spears as long as they pinch they're nose and whine. and i agree with punk_rawk_princess...music is an art, not some dumb excuse for sex. For example...take an artist like Ozzy Osbourne, Aaron Lewis, Linkin Park, Cold, even the Beatles...do you really think they wrote all their songs two minutes after watching some porn movie? yeah, that's what i thought. Now those are musicians. Britney Spears is just a no-talent musician wannabe. What she does isn't music...it's looking cute in front of a camera. Half the crap she sings probably isn't her anyway, it's studio magic. This song and Britney Spears is an embarresment to women everywhere and a discrase to the name and reputation of music. People are all out there blaming people like Marolyn Manson and Staind and all those kinds of bands for ruining their children. Why don't they look deeper and realize that because of people like Britney Spears, they're 10 year old daughters are all decked out in make up. Society these days...makes me shameful even to say i'm a part of it.

to me, this song just brings back memories. Tupac explains the meaning himself, but for some reason, i seem to see everything differently through this song. my perception of this song is the feeling that you're just leaving everything behind. kinda like running away from your problems...and your joys. no matter how much pain it may cause your loved ones, it doesn't matter. if you stay there, you'll just feel dead inside like before.

what i see in this song is the artist losing one of his loved ones. whether it be a friend or a family member. and now, once he's gone, it seems he can feel him/her there with him. but every time he looks around, he sees nothing and remembers his loss. now the artist is just searching for a way to stay alive without him

Staind – Excess Baggage Lyrics

To me, this song is something that lies close to the heart. Not just cause Staind is my favorite, but because I can relate. In my eyes, this song is just about all the faults you see in yourself and all of the times that you just want to scream and yell, but you can't. Not in front of that one person. They seem just so beautiful in your eyes...their soul, their mind...and you don't want to ruin that by what you feel you hold inside. And although it's so hard at times to do, you know you have to. Everything that you know you've done wrong is darkened in their eyes for some reason, and you can't understand that. You can't see why they don't find you hideously dark. I know that other people out there had to have felt this some time. But it's something hard to let loose. That, or maybe Aaron Lewis is the only one that can put it into words so well.
