Dear god this is sad. All of you arguing over what sucks and what doesnt. Who are you (this is directed to everyone) to decide what is good and what "sucks?" None of you. It is strictly a matter of opinion, rather than fact. It shows true ignorance to say that "That band sucks," or "Dude, these guys suck ass." You COULD say "I dont care for them," or "I like so-and-so." I agree that Conor is a brilliant at writing lyrics, and he does sing them with passion. I will not say that Bright Eyes are the best, for they may be....but they also may not be. Im not gonna make myself sound stupid by sounding like i know anything and everything about music. Im also pretty sure that none of you do.....if you do, more power to you. I like this sort of music. Conor Oberst is my favorite musician. If i wanted to, i could be biased and say "Hey I Am Not Amused...you suck!!!! you are wrong!!!! Modest Mouse SUXXOR!!!!!!!!" But then, that would make me look stupid. I disagree with I Am Not Amused, but that is it. It is his opinion, and opinions can not be proven wrong. Its like saying "I think the sky should be yellow" and then having someone saying "You are fucking WRONG! What the HELL where you thinking?" Who is anyone to say what someone should think? As far as mainstream goes...if Bright Eyes goes mainstream, i would still like them. If the musical quality as i see it diminishes, then i may drift away from newer music of theirs. And now....into my vault of opinions... I think Conor is awesome. I love the way he writes his lyrics, and how the music itself is written. I find the way he expresses the words on the page to be the utmost of musical quality. I know of nobody who can do such magic with words like Conor can. What i dont like is people coming here, posting how much they hate the band, and the music. Is that supposed to mean anything? Does it make you feel powerful? To demean what im sure plenty of people like? If people like Bright Eyes, they have to be doing something right. It is really a waste of energy to come here and post "Bright Eyes sucks! Why the hell do any of you listen to them? You all need to get lives and listen to someone good!" Whoop-dee-fucking-doo. You dont like Bright Eyes....what do you want, a goddamn cookie??! Im sure you dont like it when someone goes on to a board of a band that you like and disses on him/her/them. Well, to sum up.....try not to be so freaking ignorant and dont act like you are on the top of the goddamn world. Cause, more often than not, you dont know it all. |
