this is the first song i heard by them and i was hooked... the part that really gets me is the "We're lonely and uptight. We've found some lovely ways to disappoint, but the airport's almost empty this time of the year, so let's go play on a baggage carousel. Set our watches forward like we're just arriving here from a past we left in a place we knew too well." because a few years ago (when i first heard the song) i was really in love with this girl that i was really good friends with, and alot of the time we went out to the airport to hang out so the line hits even harder... amazing song. |

i agree with catherineks for the most part... the mood of this song is just so amazing... "But we communicate in questions, and all our answers sound the same. Under sputtering flourescents, after re-fills are re-filled. Negotiations at a stand-still, spoon and rolling saucer stilled. If you ask how I got so bitter, I'll ask how you got so vain" really reminds me of when me and my girlfriend fight... just sitting there, neither of us saying anything... and then the "i'll say something thoughtful soon" of trying to figure out what to say... and instead starting to hum some random song... "tell me why we sound so lame" because the fights are almost always about something stupid that we just end up blowing out of proportion... i dont know how these guys do it. |

this band... i dont even know where to begin... the music is so good, and the lyrics, are probably the best i have ever had the pleasure of reading. I first saw this band when i played a show with them, and i was hooked... this song is the reason i was hooked too... after the show i just asked "what album has tat one song on it, where you say you better be alone" this song is just so full of emotion i wouldnt know where to start. aaahh i'm rambling. end now. |

yea this song is probably my fav. thursday song... "In this house of cards we're all holding hearts and spades" just describes how delicate love situations can be... aahhh its a great song. however, i think its "to cut from the top" not "from the clouds" it sounds like top and it makes alot more sense with the references to cards and whatnot... |

some of these situations sound nice. like "When you get off work tonight, meet me at the construction site, and we'll write some notes to tape to the heavy machines" just sounds like fun. anyways about this song, a very good relaxing tune, i enjoy it |
