| I believe that Ell comes the closest to a 'realistic' interpretation to the song's meaning. If not about a heroin addiction then a Methamphetamine addiction. There are Meth users that will often pick at themselves causing "wounds that will not heal" (comparable to the track marks of a heroin user). SOME say it's because they see "insects" crawling on/in their skin, although I'm not entirely in agreement with this. Either of these addictions, possibly because of the "wounds" that occur, will cause the user to feel self-conscious, insecure, and therefore, withdrawn from the society they now fear will pass judgment on them. A Cocaine addiction, though having similar psycological characteristics, does NOT yield the visible physical indications that an addiction to heroin or meth does. So, unless fattymoto knows the band on a personal level and has ASKED them what the song means, I would suggest he do a little more homework. | |
