| The Who – Cry If You Want Lyrics | 7 years ago |
|
"Except yourself and little Ted" Gives me the idea that he is talking about someone specific, although I'm not sure who. "Aren't you glad it's your last term" Gives me the idea he is talking about some politician... or maybe politicians in general. Before looking closely at the lyrics, I thought this was a song lashing out specifically at the 60's movement... they hated the politicians of the day. Everyone over 30 couldn't be trusted. Once the big wigs in that movement turned 30, most of them kind of sold out and became exactly what they professed to hate... so the 60's movement kind of died. |

| Jerome's Dream – Double Who? Double You! Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| I think you can find meaning in these lyrics easily. I think what he's trying to say is that this girl didn't care about anything past the sex. He's saying the grass is always greener but it has been tainted. It's still contains a hue of green though. | |
| The Moody Blues – The Story In Your Eyes Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
Typical Moody Blues intelligent song writing! My interpretation" " But I'm frightened for your children And the life that we are living is in vain And the sunshine we've been waiting for Will turn to rain" ;; may be relative to how some people in Guam right now feel! And , again my interpretation....not factual, "When the final line is over And it's certain that the curtain's gonna fall I can hide inside your sweet sweet love Forever more" is 'he can hide inside God's Love;;forever more" |

| Blondie – Dreaming Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| @[MongSeanings:22282] - Your point makes a lot of sense. Also because Harry was born in 1945, the year in which that movie was released, and she probably grew up watching it over and over again. Besides sounding like a delighful story, movie industry didn't use to offer very many options back then. | |

@[funshine:22281] Yes, she is! From wikipedia: "Originally billed as Angel and the Snakefor two shows in August 1974, they renamed themselves "Blondie" by October 1974. The name derived from comments made by truck drivers who catcalled "Hey, Blondie" to Harry as they drove past." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blondie_(band) "Deborah Ann Harry (born Angela Tremble; July 1, 1945)[1] is an American singer-songwriter and actress best known as the lead singer of the new wave band Blondie." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debbie_Harry Maybe you'd better chill out and make a little research next time, eh? ;) |

| Rufus Thomas – Walking the Dog Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
The original Stax recording, instead of "Mary Mary quite contrary ...", Rufus starts out the verse, "Tell me Mary, what's your twelve? ... Tell me, how does your garden grow? ..." Now, what does the question, "what's your twelve?" mean? I've heard "watch your six" means "watch your back" as 6 o'clock is behind you assuming you're facing 12 o'clock. Is Rufus essentially asking "where are you going?" I've searched for the expression, and it seems to only appear in the lyrics to this song. |

| Brand New – The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows Lyrics | 8 years ago |

Jesse Lacey explained the meaning of the song in this quote: "I don’t know. That was actually a song that Vin wrote and then I put lyrics to later. Well, the song is about kind of being in a relationship and knowing that it’s going to end, so you kind of end it prematurely when everything is going good. That doesn’t necessarily mean boyfriend and girlfriend, it can mean friendship or anything like that." The music video is interesting as well. It shows Lacey and his girlfriend wrecking their car. The rest of the video is confusing, and I think the entire purpose of the video is to inspire dissonance. It most likely has little impact on the meaning of the song. |

| Fleet Foxes – Third of May/Odaigahara Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
This is a dense song lyrically, but I do have some ideas. Overall, I'd say this song is about dealing with regret over past mistakes. The line "to be held within oneself is deathlike" suggests that the writer is regretting being despondent instead of connecting with others ("Aren't we made to be crowded together, like leaves?"). The war imagery suggests a battle, but I think this battle is internal. "Can I be light and free? If I lead you through the fury will you call to me? And is all that I might owe you carved on ivory?": These lines come at a major turning point, in which the writer wonders if they could cast off their melancholy and make a human connection. I do think the reference to a "fleet angel" is about the band name. Perhaps the "song" mentioned earlier is the music the band makes, and holding fast to the wing symbolizes how music can be a means to deal with the "crime after crime" of sins and regrets. |

| Līve – Selling The Drama Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| @[turantual:22220] What do you believe in? So everyone who believes in something that has not been "proven" by science is stupidity? I mean , I know assholes use religion to control people, but that doesnt mean that believing in a deity is nonsense, something you dont fully understand is not "nonsense".I love science and at the same time I know there are millions of things out there that it cant be explained, think about it. Good explanation for the song by the way, I agree 100% with you. | |
