One more thing I left out, at the end, Chris talks about an actor in a play. I believe the play is life. And living it well, and taking a bow, is succeding in life. One more tiny detail- "actor" last time I checked, actors were men. Could this mean something? Possibly. |

He may be a grandfather talking to his grandchildren about when he was once a young guy, "running down the one night stands". This song is simply amazing. As Ztar77 said, the song is about losing someone you loved. It may be an ex, it may be a relative, nonetheless, it's a person you held dear to you.
I believe Chris, is trying to figure out, not only whats happened, but what's going to happen in the future. Chris doesn't seem positive about himself any more. You can tell this from when he says "You want to know who I really am? Yeah, so do I." You can tell from this, that this person, whomever it may be gave him a self of individuality, and now that the person is gone, he no longer has that feeling. He doesn't know who he is. He's just a regular "Joe". |
