| Alkaline Trio – Another Innocent Girl Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| On the concert DVD Dan says this song is about one of his friends; I forget the name of the guy, but his last name definitely isn't Andriano. So what I'm thinking is that it's from Dan's point of view, but not about himself (or Matt)" | |
| Alkaline Trio – All On Black Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| Yeah, exactly, BadCaseofMurder. Matt is a fan of Anton LaVey's artwork (he's a known Satanist); that doesn't make him a satanist, though. This song has the recurrent theme of the death of a loved one (not too present, in this form, on Good Mourning) which I suppose all stems from the same experience. This song to me sounds like it's Skiba's girlfriend (or ex) who died. | |
| Brand New – Okay I Believe You, but My Tommy Gun Don't Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
Uh, guys, I'm about 98% sure that this song is written in jest from someone else's perspective. No one in their right mind (no matter how much you love their music, he's not THAT self-centered) would write a song about themselves that's like this. I think this song is about someone he knows who might've gotten an over-inflated ego for some reason or other. People have mentioned the guy from Taking Back Sunday, that could be it. Anyway, this is an amazing song, probably the best off the new album if not for Guernica. |

| Alkaline Trio – As You Were Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| What the fuck, dude... they made ONE video and now they've gone mainstream? Hot Water Music have made videos! They're not mainstream, since they're in your name and you're sooo underground. BTW, Alkaline Trio has already toured with Blink, doing the first part of their act, and this was before the Stupid Kid video hit the airwaves. | |
| Avril Lavigne – Sk8er Boi Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Fuck this sucks. "He was a boy, she was a girl". WOW! Whoop-de-fucking-doo! AVRIL LAVIGNE IS A GENIUS, SHE CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PENIS AND A VAGINA!!!!! |
|
| Reel Big Fish – Where Have You Been? Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Yeah, it's definitely a change from their usual sound. They sorta stripped away the ska sound but it still sounds like RBF. It's a great song. | |
| Weenus – Song For Her Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| So, where can I get their music then? | |
| Saves the Day – At Your Funeral Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Not one of Saves The Day's best songs but I gotta say this song gives the singer's voice a damn good workout. | |
| No Doubt – Just A Girl Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I don't think they sold out... they 'evolved' into something that MTV liked. | |
| NOFX – Les Champs-Elysees Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| The song is about a guy who walks along the Champs Elysées and starts talking to this stranger and they fall in love. | |
| Weenus – Song For Her Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Does this band even exist?! The lyrics are great but I'm starting to think that this is a phantom band. | |
| Jets to Brazil – I Typed For Miles Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Actually I think this is a song about writer's block. He holed himself up in a hotel room to write some songs and he just can't get anything on the paper. He begins to doubt his choice of career (note to self: no one cares, your voice is average). By the end he's completely exasperated. | |
| Strung Out – Bring Out Your Dead Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This is a song about someone whose addiction (to drugs, most likely) has overcome them to the point where they are looking death in the face. | |
| Wheatus – Punk Ass Bitch Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This is a song about a guy who really likes this girl and she might even dig him, too... until the punk-ass bitch comes and steals her away with his pecs and his biceps and his car and his JUVENILE FREAKIN' ATTITUDE and his STUPID FRAEKING HUGGING TENDENCIES!!!! Ah... sorry 'bout that. Yeah, this is a good song, my fave from Wheatus since I usually can't stomach the guy's whiny castrated midget voice. This one is good, however. I "like"the topic. | |
| Rx Bandits – What If Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Actually, I think it goes like this: the guy likes this girl and he ponders that fact taht he could tell her he loves her or that she's a stupid whore, and it wouldn't make a difference. She pays so little attention to him that her reaction would be the same. So whatever she says, it's "never better, never worse". | |
| Alkaline Trio – Clavicle Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This is the closest that Alkaline Trio has gotten to a love song, and it kicks ass. | |
| Alkaline Trio – I Lied My Face Off Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Ehh... I would consider this emo but you may be right. After all most AT songs rock pretty hard and emo is usually melancholy. | |
| Alkaline Trio – Private Eye Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Okay as has been said, this is about a guy who's been dumped and he sorta stalks her around. Obviously, however, he's not completely sane and in his mind he's a private eye. Here's a little break-up of the song: "I dragged this lake looking for corpses Dusted for prints, pried up the floorboards Pieces of planes and black box recorders Don't lie" This is the guy looking for proof that she dumped him for another guy or that she was cheating on him. " And I've been preoccupied with these sick, sick senses That sense DNA on barbed wire fences" This is him trying to cope with the depression of being dumped but instead he considers it just a 'sick, sick sense'. " Maybe someday I'll find me a suspect That has no alibi" Here he says basically that he hopes someday he'll find someone that won't dump him. " New Year's Eve was as boring as heaven I watched flies fuck on channel 11 There was no one to kiss, there was nothing to drink Except some old rotten milk someone left in the sink" On New Year's Eve you have a party of course and at midnight you kiss your loved one. He was so infatuated with that girl that once she dumped him he had nowhere to go and he stays alone at home. " And there's no ring on the phone anymore There's no reason to call I passed out on the floor" Here he is giving himself the idea that she still wants him but she doesn't need to call back when in fact she won't and doesn't want to. "Smoked myself stupid and drank my insides raisin dry But at the right place at the right time I'll be dead wrong and you'll be just fine And I won't have to quit doing fucked up shit For anyone but me" By "I'll be dead wrong and you'll be just fine" he means that someday he'll find out that she still loved him and that he'll be wrong for having doubted her. He says that he won't take her back... of course she won't come back anyway. The fucked up shit is just the stuff he did when he was with her. "And at the right place at the right time It will have been worth it to stand in line And you won't have to stop Saying "I love cops" for anyone but me Your private eye" What this means is when she comes back (or when he thinks she's gonna come back) it will have been worth the wait because he will be her only love. Like has been mentioned already, this is some pretty bleak, depressing stuff. The guy is just fucked up beyond recognitioné This is my interpretation, of course. To someone else it could mean something else. |

| Andrew W.K. – She Is Beautiful Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Wow, this song kicks ass. The lyrics are kinda plain but everytime I hear this song, I want to break stuff and jump around, so I guess that counts for something, right? It's a weird melody for a love song, but then again, love is weird. | |
| Weezer – El Scorcho Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Well this song is about not being able to tell someone you love them, I agree. Basically it's someone that he knows, but not very well, and he's scared of rejection. If she rejects him he could lose her forever, and if he doesn't do a damn thing, he could lose her too. The Madame Butterfly references are just icing on the cake. This is a great song. | |
| Home Grown – More Than Friends Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This is Home Grown's best song. It doesn't sound too revolutionary but the lyrics, as simple as they are, really hit hard. Besides it's a lot less stupid than that pot song. | |
| Alkaline Trio – Fuck You Aurora Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Well it could be his fault for a variety of reasons. The guy was shit-faced and took the guy's car and crashed and died and the guy is saying "it's my fault, I never should've let you take my car". He doesn't want to drive a Chrysler because it will remind him of his 'mistake' and he hates the town because that's where his friend died. Besides this, this is a kick-ass song. Again, awesome lyrics. I love AT. |

| Alkaline Trio – I Lied My Face Off Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This is a brilliant song about, well, a breakup like just about every song by Alkaline Trio. The lyrics of their songs are just... quite possibly the ebst in emo, but then again it's a good genre. I mean, come on, "like watching newborn babies crack from work related stress", that's BRILLIANT! I'd want to listen to this song at a point where I felt like crap. Thankfully that hasn't really happened yet. |

| The Starting Line – Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
It's a cover of an old song by Jefferson Starship. This is one of the instances where I will forget that this is a cover. :) Edited by oofus on December 17 2004, at 12:36AM |

| The Starting Line – I'm Real (J. Lo cover) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| These aren'T actually the real lyrics, I think. The song doesn't say 'nigga' but I have no freakin' idea what it actually says. The genders are certainly not reversed however. | |
| Pansy Division – Smells Like Queer Spirit Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This is a song about, uh, being gay and stuff. Yeah. |
|
| Fenix TX – Katie W. Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Well, it can be interpreted in both ways. I mean, even if the song is about weed, it still works as a song about a girl and if you like it that way... I'm sure the band knew they had a double meaning there. | |
