Dear and the Headlights – I'm Bored, You're Amorous Lyrics
| 14 years ago

I feel like this song's about a serious relationship where you've just seen enough a person to realize that every moment you spend with them is a little bit of dying since you know she isn't the one. When you realize that all she is is a "girlfriend, a movie, a slow dance, a thought that just passed." I'm bored to tears, but you're still amorous. |

The Shins – Sleeping Lessons Lyrics

When I first heard this song, I thought of Socrates. But Socrates didn't offend when the Athenians judged him. However, I thought that this song was like his story, and it's as if Plato had asked him to rebel... But not so much in the sense of living on, but taking the matter into his own hands to demonstrate the greatness of a single man. |

Bright Eyes – Spent on Rainy Days Lyrics

I love the rhythm to this song. Like when he sings "I know I'm lazy with the little things," it makes me shiver a bit. HOME IV = awesome. |

Bright Eyes – Exaltation on a Cool, Kitchen Floor Lyrics

I think this goes with "A Perfect Sonnet."
"But once you knew a girl
And you named her "lover"
Danced with her in kitchens
Through the greenest summer..."
So ladies, if you ever want to get a chance with Conor Oberst, just visit him while he's eating from a bowl of oranges in California during June. He'll most likely write a song about it. |

Bright Eyes – June on the West Coast Lyrics

This song is awesome. When he sings, "And I know he heard me strumming all those sad and simple chords as I sat inside my room so long ago," I just get this beautiful picture in my head where day is approaching the evening and Conor's head is down while he plays an outline of something great. |

Bright Eyes – I Will Be Grateful for This Day Lyrics

This is the best Bright Eyes song. The beginning is amazing, where it's basically just beats and then comes in the beautiful harmonic part of the song. Even without the lyrics, this song is great.
"That's why I'm writing my own ending,
I let my pen bleed black or blue.
And I will color in the meaning
It will be gold and green and true.
And I'll learn to love my new discovered proof..."
It's honest and almost defiant. Like saying, "I'll pick up where I left off, and I'll make my way colorful and beautiful." Definitely one of my favorite songs. |
