This song's about being with someone who makes you feel on top of the world I think, larger than life...ten feet tall. "sometimes the things you say just make me feel a different way" is an ingenious line. I saw Saves the Day opening for Green Day and Blink at the Pop Disaster tour, and I ahve to say they were the perfect band to open for Green Day. I hope Saves the Day will headline their own big tour in the near future, though they aren't THAT great of a live band. They're young, though, and sadly hardly heard of, so that is completely understandable. I think with mor eexperience they'll be a kickass live band, and anyway an opening band can't really talk to the crowd that much anyway so i guess it wasn't a good judge of them being a live band. but anyway awesome song, awesome band |

I love it when my parents aren't home and I can blast this at full volume in the living room and jump around screaming the lyrics to the wonderfully encouraging beat. Nothing is better for beating the blues, and all comments were right on target about the meaning being that it's better to be different, and you don't want to be like everyone else. I WANNA BE THE MINORITY! (and people call green day pop instead of classifying them as punk...tell me how that is possible when the message of this song is pure punk, which is basically doing your own thing.) |

This song is the anthem of all teenagers everywhere...you're so bored you're going crazy, but hey you're not alone in that. And they touch on a controversial issue, but it isn't all about that...it's just saying that hey it's O.K., it's perfectly normal. Whenever I'm bored I play this as loud as possible on my CD player and sing along..it raises my spirits. |

"Celebrate your own decay" basically means, I think, that it's okay if you're going on the wrong track...it's possible to get back, and don't give up on yourself. It may be considered a very "pop" beat, but the message is more "punk" than punk itself...and i hate using labels |

This is a beautiful song, and it can really hit home with a lot of people. "If you could see inside my head then you'd start to understand the things I value in my heart" couldn't be more true or, I'll use this word again, beautiful. Green Day is one of those rare bands that touches issues in some songs but is pure humor in others and reminds you how messed up the world is without depressing you about it. It's music that reminds you it's okay to get on a different track. I LOVE this song. |

This is probably about a relationship that went wrong, and Billie-Joe is saying that sometimes you don't realize what the other person meant to you until it's over, and he's willing to take the blame and the pain for it, and he's kind of asking why it went wrong, thus, "The Words I Might Have Ate." I read a previous comment that said this song is about being high and what matters to you and how everything seems like it's a big deal, but I read in a magazine interview that it was written by Billie-Joe because he had panic attacks. It makes sense. WE all go crazy sometimes, and this song expresses it. It's the anthem of all Green Day fans, I think. |

I think that this song is very literal, and I think basically Billie- Joe is expressing the common feeling that sometimes people don't want to fall in love...it is more trouble than it is worth sometimes, or else plain frightening or confusing. |
