I dunno If I've got a different version to everyone else but my copy of From here to Infirmary has this and Hell Yes as tracks 13 and 14. I guess it could be the Europian version or something. |

But why is the whole song in third person except the "and when we get home" parts? And he says "This part of him is controlling me"; I'm not sure whether that suggests that he considers himself to have two different personaes or if he feels he's learnt his behavour from someone else. |

I heard that Eddie was having trouble writing lyrics for this one and basically built up from the initials of his hero; Pete Townsende. Taking P and T and then building a whole song around the name Present Tense. This might not be true, I can't remember where i heard it, but if it is it speaks volumes about Eddies talent as a lyricist that he could come up with such an insightful song based on something so random. |

I always thought this was about drug addiction, like Eddie is trying to tell someone with an addiction that "It's not your way" but he can't help them no matter how hard he tries. The first verse seems to be examining why people try drugs and the second could be about being unable to control the addiction. |
