jesus. first of iggy didnt play guitar and he sang. jesus jesus. and anyway, its partly about iggy but its probably generally about the decline of all of the 60s stars: janis joplin, jimi hendrix (he played it left hand), brian jones and all the rest. david bowie was particularly interested in a french rock star named vince taylor that eventually went completely insane after being moderately successful. |

does anyone else notice the similarities in lou reed lyrics and that of camus or other existentiallist writers? in the song someone is killed and no one seems to care.
"Shoots him down dead on the floor
Oh, you shouldn't do that
Don't you know you'll stain the carpet"
lou also alludes to it a little in some kinda love when he says "like a dirty french novel, combines the absurd with the vulgar." the song talks about a careless affair somewhat like the one described in the stranger. i think the statement "no kinds of love are better than others" is also denying the existence of love whatsoever. anyone have thoughts on it? |

is there any doubt that this is one of the greatest songs of all time? theres not much to explain here except that this jimmy ray is probably having a personality crisis. Its also very clear that he's mean, leaner, and he aint no in-betweener. |

dude, that was so inciteful. i had no idea it was about this girl coming. i had this picture in my mind it was about this hedge hog dressed up in glitter and platform shoes singing about being underpaid by the snotty hedge hogs in suits at the record companies. and the suit hedge hogs are all mean and tehyre scowling and yelling and stuff. thanks for clearing that up |
