Pixies – Velouria Lyrics 21 years ago
I wouldn't defend Weezer, it's only that, there is no similarity whatsoever between "Where's My Mind?" and "Say It Ain't So." Musically nor lyricaly. The only pseudo-similraity I can see is that they both use cresendos... but then you could say that everything we hear today is stolen from classical musicians. Isn't it more likely that two bands, one of which influenced the other, could make use of the same universal musical technique? =-o

deddatlas and craigus are obviously just beyond you, and making use of tensor calculus. lol. people should proofread before they hit the "add" button.

Pixies – Vamos Lyrics 21 years ago
*i was thinking about living with my sister in new jersey.

his spanglish is humorous. i would think, having mentioned the maid and such, that it's a commentary on the class differences (ie "well-bred" americans, and the working class). it all seems satirical. but only a suggestion.

Ben Folds Five – Air Lyrics 22 years ago
*saw, oops typos. anyway, since that is between the stanzas where everyone believes he is talking about two different people, the former being another, and the latter being himself, it would seem that it tells you that he is talking about himself. But once you come to that realization, reading the lyrics in their entirety, again, might lead you to believe that he was himself all along, in the water... I dunno.

I think that maybe everyone should look at the line: "I aw two of me there." :-)

Cursive – Sink to the Beat Lyrics 22 years ago
does anyone else have a feeling that this song is about the music industry, and the "indie scene?" they make direct reference to DC, and Fugazai... *shrug*

Desaparecidos – Mall of America Lyrics 22 years ago
I think Conor is addressing more than capitalism as an economic system in general, but its effect on the music industry, and creative arts as a whole. He explicitly mentions his own music, and remains satirical.

Desaparecidos – Man and Wife, the Former (Financial Planning) Lyrics 22 years ago
It seems like the meaning is actually more satirical... the husband does "love" the wife, and he wants to show that, yet to achieve their now customary "dreams" of middle-class life he wastes his day(s) concerned with money. It started innocently enough, as most families do, with a desire for financial security and the "American Dream" yet the husband's, and I use the term liberally because he doesn’t have malicious intent, and it is of negative connotation, rapacity, money becomes his only form of interaction with his wife. His only way to show affection.

Built to Spill – Carry the Zero Lyrics 22 years ago
tiiiiiny correction, in the line: "you're so occupied with what other" it should be "persons" not "people." Only serves to be more congruent with Built to Spill's usual method of song writing.

Bright Eyes – The Movement of a Hand Lyrics 22 years ago
Additionally, in "I Won't Ever be Happy Again" you hear: "You could never understand the motion of a hand waving you good bye, hey, bye bye."

Just an addendum.:-)
