I never really thought all that hard about what this song means. I guess everyone else's ideas are good. But what I do know is that this is an excellent summer song. The reverberations at the start and the way they tweaked his voice makes me think of heat waves and things like that. I love listening to this song in the summer.

Yes this song is of course about someone whose girlfriend is in a coma. I agree with HaloDemon about how touching this song is. I love how after the second chorus the really just pull out the electic amazingly and for the rest the guitar is wailing in the background. That is amazing.

Honestly, I think everyone who says that this song is about either the Church, or relationships, or even the inner workings of the band has only got half the truth (or a third, whatever). This song is simply about its title: schisms. If you look closely, every schism in relationships, churches, or nations can be described by this song. In fact, the song can be applied to any schism in any relationship between humans that was once warm. People like Bonzo and IcedPachyderm that say the song is about one thing and not the other cannot see the whole picture. I would challenge them to prove that the song is not about the Church or not about relationships with the text of the song. They will not be able to because there is not one specific meaning, except, as I said earlier, its title. This song is about schisms and how after there has been one, you wonder why the pieces won't fit back together, for you know that they were at once all together, and you should be able to put them back. But you can't because sometimes pieces get crushed or warped or bent in the process of breaking. Once something has schismed, it can never be put back together the way it was. That is why the last four "I know the pieces fit" are much more intensly sung than the rest of the song. He is expressing his frustration at not being able to put the pieces back together. To the losers complaining about long posts: While there is nothing wrong with a short post, the name of this website is "SongMeanings." Sometimes the meanings are a little involved and require length to analyze. Why don't you lay off and try reading some of the excellent thoughts that have been posted above? Educate yourself.

New Found Glory – The Story So Far Lyrics

I think this song is talking about a guy who was in love with this girl who he thought was totally amazing and then he lost her . . . who knows how? But either way, he's looking for someone like her. He says that "I never found someone with eyes as wide as yours" he's not refering to her actual eyes, but her attitude on the world. Then he sees another girl that "looks like her from afar" and he's wondering to himself "Is this new girl actually like she who I lost?" But he realizes that he has to give it a shot because "the sky will never look the same again" without her showing him "how it could be." The girl that he lost made his life the way it was, and he needs someone like her to return to the way -he- was. The reason why he asks if she knows if he's afraid is because he is talking to the second girl, who he fears so desperately that he will lose also. I can sympathize with this guy because I have been in the first situation (the girl he loved and lost, or maybe never really had) and I hope that someday there might be a second (the one with whom he tried again).
