| Because you don't hear a band on the radio that much doesn't mean that they're not good. linkin park get constantly played on the radio, and they suck making music. Somethings don't change regardless of taste, talent is one of them. It could be that Brad Nowell is not one of your favorite musicians, but that doesn't make him inferior to whoever is one of your favorite musicians. I agree that he is not the best musician of our times, a top ten list would be filled with Tom Jobim, Astor Piazzola, Stan Getz, Bob Marley, there are many many musicians that were better than Brad. I never said he was the best, I simply said he was one of the best. He would definetely be on a top 20 list of musicians of our modern times, and a top 5 list of musicians of the 90's. And because Sublime isn't as famous as other bands has nothing to do with their talent, it's because they lasted only 8 years as a band, and Brad died right as they were going to achieve great success. I'm ashamed that someone from my generation would think that popularity defines talent, that's like saying that Britney Spears was more talented than Mozart because she's sold more records and gets played on tv and the radio more often. Thats just stupid. And just out of curiosity, who would you put in your top 100? overrated acts like the beetle? linkin park and limp bizkit for their trendyness? 2pac? I may be wrong, but I get the impression that you're immature and that you don't know a lot about music or making it. Brad was a great singer, songwriter, guitarist, he was a complete musician, and he didn't rise with the help of any new "wave" that emerged, like other bands like Nirvana, that are very good and talented, but would never have risen to success so fast if it wasn't for the exploding local scene, Sublime didn't need that, wherever Sublime went they made their own scene. You can argue it's popularity or your taste, but you cannot argue, as a musician, like I am, that Sublime was not one of the most talented bands ever. Brad Nowell was one of the greatest musicians of all times, and specially of our times. He knew how to perfectly bend his voice to caress the sound of his guitar, he knew how to write lyrics that can hypnotize and transform the listener, and most importantly he did all of this. In May 25th 1996, the world lost a great musician, and the level of talent in our modern music industry greatly decreased. | |
