Cornell stated the meaning of this song: "Full on Kevin's Mom" is about "a friend of mine who slept with another friend of mine's mom. The guy who did it said to us, 'Yeah, full on Kevin's mom'." No physical force, nothing about money. "You dont get nothing for free" refers to the price of the friendship. |

My view is that this song is about his heroin addiction. He's moving on from the heroin, finally getting his life on track. The aliens are probably Mary and hids kids, instead of just the rest of the world. I think this because of the title of the song (Loving the Alien) being a singular noun, and how lovely were the aliens being plural. Also, this part: Sometimes I make believe When we're alone Machines have taken hold Can you get me to a telephone I think is somehow related to the Matrix and him being high on the heroin... Machines taken over and telephones get them out of the pretend world. He wants out from his highs and living in a fake world. |

This song to me seems to be about how that even after death, you'll still be with the people you love. The whole first verse is very "heavenly" and biblical sounding. I wouldn't know though, I'm athiest. |

Well, regarding that live version, I have a copy of a similiar version from their show on 2-27-2002. Wheels generally has it right, I'm sure they have slight variations per show. I've seen them live once and the way they did it at my show was completely different from the 2 other live versions I have. In every live version I've heard, they try to pass on a positive message, because O.A.R. is a very positive band.
