Alkaline Trio – Cooking Wine Lyrics 21 years ago
on this entire site i see people calling bands like thursday, thrice, finch, and taking back sunday sellouts because they've been on mtv2. this actually annoys me, because although i dislike mtv, it doesn't come close to making a band a sellout. now, lord knows i was upset when alk3 was to be on mtv, but not because i think they are "selling themselves out", but because i know a lot of people will hear one song and claim to be their biggest fans. our lady peace, jimmy eat world, and the list goes on forever with bands that have not gotten full credit for their work.

the only problem with mtv2 is the people watching it: people hear a song they enjoy, and worship the band, completely oblivious to the fact that the band had many albums before they were on tv.

does this make the band a "sellout"? no, not by any means. this does however mean that the band is taking a step in the direction where more people are going to be listening to and enjoying their music from that song on

so, if you think getting on tv is going to make a band a sellout, get over it. or, if for some reason you think you're "underground" because few people know about the bands you listen to, get over that too, it's annoying, and you more than likely don't know what the hell you're talking about.

rant = over

Fugees – Killing Me Softly Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this has got to be one of my favorite songs, not just because of what the lyrics are saying, but because of the emotion you can feel when she sings.

The story of the song is quite simple: She hears of this young performer and his talents, so she goes to see him perform to see if he is as talented as she has heard. When she gets there, his songs are describing all of her emotions and feelings, almost as if he had somehow read a journal or diary of hers (I felt he found my letters; And read each one out loud).

I think the last verse describes the song entirely:
"He sang as if he knew me
In all my dark despair
And then he looked right through me
As if I wasn't there
But he was there, this stranger
Singing clear and strong"

Sarah McLachlan – Adia Lyrics 23 years ago
The line "'Cause there's no one left to finger" is followed by "there's no one here to blame". She's not talking about fingering anyone... she's saying that there is no one else to point a finger at - she can't blame anyone.

Līve – Lightning Crashes Lyrics 23 years ago
i first heard this song like three years ago and the moment i heard it i loved it. it took me a long time to figure out what the name of it was. sometimes i would hear people singing it and i would always ask them but no one ever knew - so i found out one day and its still by far one of my favorite songs of all time.
