I think this song is about a musical partner or producer Jason had and their love of music. Maybe they went their seperate ways due to musical differences. Jason does music for the love and freedom of it, not for the money (and how if you put value of lyrics into money, they lose their integrity); "I'm all about them words, over numbers, unencumbered numbered words..." And my take on the whole "Bells inside" is like, "hey, we went our seperate ways but remember keeping in touch goes both ways. But if you've got other dealings then that's fine and I'll never forget what we had." |

Ok, here's my two cents: I think Dave is trying to spread love around and make people get addicted to it like a drug. Instead of selling/using drugs or what not...try love instead...and then spread it to others. That's why there are so many referrences to drugs. I think he's using drugs and love as a metaphor. |
