no need to argue over meanings--simply a beautiful song, and it may mean something different to you than what it originally meant to him--it doesn't matter, that's why dave is so great |

i had never heard this song until i got grounded for a month for throwing a party and my parents found out--anyway--i was scared to death my boyfriend was going to break up with me because of the restriction-i could onyl see him once a week and talk to him 10 minuts a day-well anyway-he told me to listen to this song one day...and i had no idea what it was about, i just figured it was a random song that he thought was cool...after listening to this song, i knew i REALLY loved my boyfriend...that is-until we broke up :) |

i did this song for a school project earlier this year--and the assignment was to relate a song to an event in history. i related this to the holocaust--i interpreted it as a gradual losing of faith-due to hard times or illness. i saw it this way because the beginning of the song starts out early in the day--and it ends at night-when its cold and thier clothes are tattered after enduring so many hardships in life...just something to think about |

i dont think that the lyrics: "it came to mind i didnt care" doesnt mean moving on from a realationship--i think this line is in the words of the girl: she doesn't give a damn what her boyfriend is dreaming about and so she must not love him |

i think its about a couple who once dated--or just 2 really good friends. the guy wants to date this girl--but he knows that she'll come up with every excuse for not wanting to jump into the relationship...like claiming they have nothing in common. the guy replies that they both liked the movie "breakfast at tiffany's" so they have valid ground for starting a relationship: they finally have osmething in common.
"i see you, the only one who knew me, and now your eyes see through me...i guess i was wrong" i think that means that "you were my best friend, and now you look past me and forget about me, and i guess i was wrong to believe we could date" |

i heard that billy was once talking to a child and the child commented on how he was sad because nothing drastic had happened in Billy's generation's life. Billy set out to prove him wrong by writing this song... |
