definitely the cutest song about alcoholism i've ever heard! the "doo-wop, soda shop, sock-hop" 50s metaphor is kind of awesome.

Has no one commented on this song yet? Really? It's so lovely, I just wish it were longer. A song about a relationship...that you're not quite sure about? I want to know who "they" are.
Does anyone else watch The L Word? Dana came to see T&S perform this while on an acid trip, and it was so cool and cute. I think about it every time I hear this. |

Easily my favorite Yo La Tengo song of all time. It's beautiful, and reminds me of a really specific time in my life. Encompasses love in such a wonderful way. |

Yeah, this version appears on the new CD 'I'm Wide Awake It's Morning'. I dunno, I really like this version - maybe in a different way than I like the SC50 version, because I adore Emmylou Harris. Overall, I like the SC50 version more, but this definitely does not "ruin" the song. It's still beautiful and worth a listen. |

Oh, Tullycraft is just good times. I love really jangly pop-culture infused pop music, and that's exactly what they are. Hell if I know what any of their songs *mean*, except maybe...yeah, I don't know. It's just sweet music. |

Word at whoever left the "godlike" comment. They rule.
I wanna live for today
I wanna roll in the hay
But I'm floating away
I got nothing to say
It seems like a person who just wants to do something important and leave some sort of mark, but just kind of can't. Other, than that, I don't think it really means anything... |

I can't believe no one has commented on this Peaches song! It's one of my absolute favorites. I can just see this relationship in my head...it seems really intimate but so casual. Like these people just get each other, you know? It really would be my ideal relationship - some food, some beach, some sleep. |

Oh, peaches how I love you!!! My friends and I scream "who's got the crack" at the top of our lungs in the car and it's such good times.
I think this song means....they are wondering who has the crack! hahaha :) |

What a great song, great band. I'm guessing this is basically a tribute song to some girl, and if I may say, she sounds pretty cool. Reminds me of myself actually...especially the "she's a shaker, but not a mover" line. Say Hi To Your Mom rocks. That's it. |

| Fountains of Wayne – Please Don't Rock Me Tonight Lyrics

GOD, I love this song. I'm not sure why, it's not the best FoW song (lyrically, anyways) I just think the melody is great and it has slightly more of a fuzzy rock edge than their other songs. I'm not entirely sure WHAT it means -- maybe he was all excited for this party, but then he had a really bad day, and the DJ wasn't into it, and then he doesn't want to have sex with his girlfriend? Or he doesn't want to dance? Hahaha, I have no idea so I'm going to stop sounding dumb, but this is a jammin' song. Listen to it. |

| Fountains of Wayne – I'll Do The Driving Lyrics

She says "I love Johnny Cash, the man in red"
I turn my head and pretend not to hear what she said
I always crack up at that. What a great line. Excellent song. This girl is a total idiot, but she must have a few endearing qualities (or be really hot) because he stays with her for some reason anyway. He'll just be sure to do all the driving. |

How can you listen to this song and not just be instantly happy? I think it may be physically impossible. Basically, he's so grateful this girl is in his life because she makes all the crap he faces all day long not seem so bad. I want someone to write a song like this about me! So sweet. |

What great lyrics, hahaha. Yeah, I first got a hold of this last summer and it was number one on this huge FoW mix I made and listened to all of last year. I just broke it out again because now it's nice and I'm feeling all summery.
ANYWAY, I just think it's about how a lot of shit happens, but the day still goes on, the sun still shines. You just drink your wine and feel good about what IS going right. Awesome song, FoW rocks. |

I completely agree with the notion that this song is highly underrated. It's a wonderful song, I love it so much. I always see a guy struggling to find some kind of meaning in his life, and just not finding it. What a relatable idea. |

It seems like this was a lot of people's first DCFC song -- I wonder why that is, it was my first too. Strange. Anyway, this is a great song, my favorite Death Cab one ever and I'm just a huge fan of the band. I saw them live last week and they played this and it absolutely blew me away. One of my best show experiences EVER. If you have the chance, see them live! It's incredible. |

God, I love this song. One of my favorites ever - such beautiful music, and so sad. It makes me want to cry! I suppose it's about her friend Lillian, wanted nothing more to get out of a hick town in Alabama, but never did. |

I also heard that this song was about a friend having an abortion, and I definitely think the lyrics go with that. But looking at it, I can see how the friend's suicide would work too. |
