| Razed In Black – Oh My Goth! Lyrics | 23 years ago |

i think its humorous. just the title "oh my goth!" is comical: oh my god/gosh is such a trite phrase, and the "!" is so cheerful... "i know that i die gracefully in vain" is too melodramatic to be literal. i think that the song is lovingly mocking the goth movement, which is now just another enclave within the mainstream (i growl at you, HotTopic). i dig goth shit and all, its fucking hot, etc, but if a teenie bopper can go to a mall and say "mommy, buy me this straitjacket, it'll look totally scary with my britney t-shirt," how deviant and miserable has "goth" become? |

the gnr version of this song is somehow always playing at momentous occasions in my life. i think knocking on heavens door is like looking god, death, life in the eye, and saying fuck it, i will do my thing and fuck the consequences. always teetering on the edge, and proceeding nonetheless. a great way to live. btw--is "dariofoo" a reference to dario fo, the italian performance artist? |

| i dont think its necessarily literally a younger woman. i think the youth he sees in her is more internal, metaphorical. | |

| Guns N' Roses – Patience Lyrics | 23 years ago |

see, although i understand how poetic and beautiful this song is, i laugh. you can interpret the "patience" as fear of commitment--take it slow, dont rush plans, etc. or, my favorite, the most atypical thing for a guy to say--to not rush into anything sexually. "if i can't have you right now, ill wait dear" it makes me laugh to think of those words coming from axl's mouth. mind you, i am not asserting this is what was intended, but i think thats why romantic chicks dig the song. im not romantic--i dont believe in patience--but i still think its a fantabulous song. |

| Apoptygma Berzerk – Love Never Dies, Pt. 1 Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| a friend once desribed this song's lyrics, paired with the song's apocalyptic music, as telling a story of two peope in love holding onto one another as the world around them is destroyed | |
| Apoptygma Berzerk – Deep Red Lyrics | 23 years ago |

i obviously have quite an affinity for this song. sounds to me, though, that the line is "the blade on your skin is what matters to me"--especially in the live recording. the infliction of pain upon the other person described here, though violent, is also perversely beautiful ("as you look into her eyes" makes it personal, meaningful). also, one cannot escape the sexual reference--the the "pressure within," the phllic knife etc. so freudian. depending upon ones preference, this can mean violent revenge or sex. or both. whatever you fancy... |
