I think this song is about suicide. waking up somewhere new(Afterlife) etc etc...lots of references to death. He's just trying to die "quick enough so that he won't feel it"...and the ending of the song is totally "i need your heart to own me." |

I think to truly understand why its wrote such a meaningful song, is to deal with the universal meaning of hunger. we all have hunger: to love, to be free, to hate, to everything, even just plain old quenching that stomach rumbling.
