only one other person has realised that "reflection", seems to bare some reference to greek mythology, in particular the story of narcissus and echo, a man so consumed with his own beauty that he failed to open his heart to anyone, but his own reflection, and eventually, I quote "pines away", all alone. I do not think this song tells the story of Narcissus, but somehow relates back to Maynard closing himself off from everyone around him (in particualr a girl), perhaps due to his "ego". I recommend searching the internet for the story of narcissus and echo, and perhaps, at least some aspects of this song may make more sense to you. I would also dare say Salvador Dali's surreal work of art "The Metamorphosis of Narcissus", had some influence too. |

it is definitely Pacey from Dawson's Creek, when he is exploding at Joey, when they break up (how predictable..). Like i said in the "Capeside Rock" forum, FATA have an obsession with Dawson's Creek (they live in Capeside), so yeh. Short Stories is the best, but this song rocks. |

is it just me or FATA have a hardcore (pardon the pun) obsession with dawson's creek. i mean they live in capeside right? and pacey is heard in "reflection", and there is a lyric "our theatres filled with pain, across the creek and into your home, be there by eight because she doesn't want you any other way", in fact the whole song sounds like it is about joey and dawson. i think FATA are just playing a big joke on everyone with this song. |

to all the ignorant fucks that don't deserve to be tool fans, maynard uses sex as a "metaphor" at various times on Aenima. yes, "stinkfist" is about penetration, but he is talking about penetrating someone until they open up completely, much like the theme to "4 degrees". Pushit is describing a relationship that was so abusive to him because this girl was so incredibly stupid, but he is hopeless without her (i'm alive when you're touching me) and even though he "may fade like a sigh" if he stays, for whatever reason she wont let him go, and he uses the incredibly strong imagery of killing her as the only way to get over her and move on with his life, because as long as she is alive, he knows they will be together. |

im fairly sure this song is about alcohol or drugs (familiar medicine abound on your breath), and whoever the person maybe is getting back what they gave, and is now pitiful, because they are using drugs to escape their reality. however, since incubus in the old days (when they were actually cool) were completely drug fucked anyway (i mean, "fungus amongus"?), im not entirely convinced it isnt autobiographical. |

this song is wild. i guess i would have been like 8 years old when it came out, and i dont care if they didnt actually sing it themselves, it's cool. i listened to it the day me and my gf split, and she was still ringing my phone like all day, and this song just has the coldest, most surreal vibe to it, hard to think it was so mainstream! |
