Wow, people really have different ideas about what this song means... I think this guy just wants this girl to be a friend to him, but she thinks he wants more; so... she avoids him, or she's "running away." The guy doesn't want her to give her life up to him, and she never gave them a chance to be in the first place. Well that's what I think, but it may be because I experiienced something similar... |

i don't think this song is about losing a girl, but leaving a girl for a long period of time. The singer is missing her and he knows she's wishing upon a star for him, so she obviously misses him too. I think this song is more about being apart from a person you love, and how hard it is to be without them. |

krynge, I totally agree with you. This song (olong with "Only Hope" also by Switchfoot) helped me to focus my life on God. It really doesn't matter what other people think, all that matters is that you keep your focus on God. After all, He's the only thing that really matters. |

This song is lyricaly and dynamicaly (vocals and instrumantals) stunning. It is one of the best songs I have ever heard! I'm usually a punk/emo/alternative guy but this is my new favorite song, both versions (this and Mand Moore's version) can never be played too many times. Switchfoot, being a Christian band, obviously wrote this song for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which only makes the song better. I'd personally like to thank Switchfoot for writing such an inspirational and spiritual song. This is truly a masterpiece. |

I usually skip the chick flicks, I mean I'm a guy, you know? But I bought "A Walk to Remember" for my friend's birthday and she made me watch it. The movie was awesome, and this song (along with Switchfoot's version) is one of the BEST song's I've ever heard in term's of voice and musical dynamics as well as lyrically! I thouroughly enjoyed the movie, and I never tire of this song (and I'm usually an alternative/punk type of guy!) |

This song, like many other emo songs, relates to how the listener feels. At one point in all of our lives, I'm sure we've felt his way. I know I have, and I still do. I admire the talent of emo lyricists, they connect with their audience, playing off of their emotions (hence "emo"). Emo lyrics are so deep. And it is the depth of this song that makes it so very, very good. |

Wow, truthsayer and Emo Kid* really put this song in a new light for me. Within the context of the CD, I didn't give the song a second thought and I wrote it off as another song about heartbreak. But now, it has a new meaning for me. I became a Christian last November, and now this song has really moved up on my favorite song list. This one was good before , and now it's absolutely great.
