| Frodus – 6/99 Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Peter Weir's 1993 movie 'Fearless' has a recurring line in 'We could disappear.' The whole movie's about a man, Jeff Bridges, who survives a plane crash and finds some sort of clarity, making him both fearless and distant, and with visions of the light at the end of a tunnel, the drawings of which look like a void. Eventually, he finds his way back through the love of his wife. In short, I'm sure this is about that Shelby guy's dad, but I think it might be based in the ideas of that movie. |

| Drowningman – Sadder Than Saturday Lyrics | 21 years ago |

"Wednesday night has always been my night", she said, and no one had the heart to disagree. This gets my vote for saddest lyric ever. |

| Drowningman – Black-Tie Knife-Fight Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| As epic as the last part of this song is, I lament the fact that he rhymed 'again' with 'again.' | |
| Zao – 5 Year Winter Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
"Look at it like this – if I’m right you die and go to hell and I die and go to heaven a place made prefect to fit anyone. If your right you die and lay and rot in the ground me too. Think about that for a while." I seriously don't want this to become a religion argument but, please, dear god, know that that is not the proper way to make somebody believe in god. "oh, our stuff is prettier than yours! come over here!" rethink your methods. |

| Codeseven – The Rescue Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
"When I drive up - you'll be in your swing - we'll laugh about things - that we know nothing about - but we laugh anyway - and you'll stay - just the way that you are - When I drive up you'll be in our swing" From Jeff Jenkins (the lead singer) himself. Great, great song. According to Jeff, it's about seeing a nephew or cousin or some kid he knows that's always in his swing when he drives up and the kid has so much potential to be something, but he just sits in his swing. Or something. I might've fucked that up a little bit. He says the chorus is about getting rid of all connections to the material/pop culture world. Empty images with no real substance. |

| Filter – Hey Man, Nice Shot Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| The song is indeed about R. Budd Dwyer, but, to clear up what division2roning said, he did not go into a bank nor did he hold anyplace "hostage." R. Budd Dwyer was a politician found guilty of bribery and was facing a harsh sentence, so he held a press conference professing his innocence. At the end, he pulls a gun out of a manilla envelope and shoots himself. The incident was shown on at least one news program in it's entirety. As far as "What you could've taught me, I could have saved some face" goes, it can be broken down like this: Many suicide shots to the face result in disfigurement of the face. R. Budd Dwyer's shot was, for lack of a better term, a clean shot. It went through and out the back, destroying the sinus cavity, resulting in blood rushing out of his nose. His face was still intact. The singer is saying that he wishes he could have met Dwyer so that he could get pointers on how not to destroy his face in his own suicide. The video of the suicide is available online and is very disconcerting, even for me. | |
| Andrew W.K. – Party Hard Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Why is it that a song that is "happy" must lack substance? Are depression and anger the only respectable emotions? On top of that, any record executive who would have the idea to "fabricate" somebody like Andrew W.K. would come off as an idiot. Who knew this guy would sell? He seems nothing but genuine in trying to make people happy with his catchy as fuck music and not only that, he comes off as a genuinely nice person who cares for his fans. Far be it for the music world to have nice people who want to make people happy. Dislike the music all you want, this is just my opinion. | |
| Shun – Glass To Sand Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
"We couldn't mend glass into sand." Glass is made up OF sand, naturally, so mending glass into sand would do the reverse - break up. The song is about a relationship, but the two involved don't know when to give up. They "meet every night in broken hope" in an attempt to work out their problems, but they fail miserably. I think the writer is placing most of the fault on the girl, saying she turns around everything he says, including "goodbye," to mean something else and doesn't really ALLOW him to leave. Only if he gives up talking and just runs, can he get out. |
