| What does this song mean to me? Shit it's just a pretty kickin' song. The harsh, disturbing vocals and grunts and growls and screams make it jump out at you. Like someone slinging shit in your face. It gets your attention. But having read most of these other posted comments all I really can think about saying is why the hell do people post comments on a fan-based website about how much they hate some band/song? I mean, what the fuck? It's really fucking stupid when you really think about it. Calling us fans of whatever band losers, morons, foneys, etc. Fuck, did you guys stop to think about the fact that you just took the precious time to access this page JUST to talk shit? Think about it. What was the purpose? To stir something up? Congratulations, you succeeded. Now what? What did that prove, or earn you? It sorta ruins your rep. Oh oh, another thing... Slipknot's lyrics are not as retarded as you hail them to be. Honestly, I think it's the fact that the band shouts most of them that turns you off. Admit that and you're not a bad person, but saying that the lyrics are moronic is a bit too assuming of you. Too many people assume the lyrics to a song suck or are horrible and evil because the artist is shouting them at the top of their lungs.. but that's emotion if you ask me. Love songs are expressed the same way. With a soft soothing voice.. songs about sex, well you know. Some songs just wouldn't sound right if they were conveyed without the emotions they speak of or portray. And on top of that some people simply don't get most band's lyrics and slap a stupid label on 'em. Okay, aim that label at yourself next time, alright? Or maybe some people just don't agree with what a song or band is about. So where does that give them the leverage to start talking shit? They don't even know what they're talking shit about. For those of you who're JUST like this, and you know who you are: Consider the fact that you're not capable of comprehending what an artist or band is saying and acknowledge it. Just admit it. Cut the fucking foreplay. I mean, I got pissed off like a motherfuck when that fruit from Creed stealthfully attacked Slipknot with that question they left for them on that radio station about how the band views themselves. As in do they view themselves as musicians or entertainers? I couldn't believe my ears. That was the stupidest question I've ever heard up untill that time. Wake up, Creed, all bands and singers are entertainers in essence. I was like, "What Mr. Creed, you think you're a super-Christ savior saving millions all around the world with your rock'n'roll riffs tearing through the airwaves?" Yeah fucking right. All bands make it big to begin with because they entertained people who became fans, and these fans bought their shit and started paying to see them live in concert to be entertained more. Creed... bleh.. I cringe and recoil in fear just fathoming the thought of the lead singer's voice. Sounds like he's singing from the side of his mouth. But man, yeah, it's like homedude JimmyDiablo up there said; Maybe you SHOULD start collecting baseball cards or some shit. Oh, and please, choke on the stick of bubblegum that comes with 'em. But back to this song... yeah... it's a totally bitchin' song. I like the band's sound and material. If you're patient enough to listen and actually keep an open mind about their music, you might be surprised with what you hear. | |

The last two posts, frighten me. Let's get this straight. If someone seriously wants to commit suicide, they will. And they wont write a song about it, or leave a sad letter behind. Think about it. Why leave evidence behind? You're risking someone finding it and eventually stopping you or pro-longing you from commiting suicide. That's not what a real suicidal person would want, now is it? The way I see it, is if you leave something behind, or through something in someone's face about you wanting to commit suicide, you probably don't really intend to do it. You're just using that scenario as a way of really getting someone's full undivided attention. That's not to say, however, that if one does not recieve this attention, one will not suddenly sink into deeper depression, and eventually have suicidal tendencies.... ....just what in the fuck am I rambling on about? Hey horn, A/S/L??? ...just kidding, the sarcasm was dripping off my finger tips on that one. Anywho, I completely agree with you. This song, like many others, should not be judged on 'how great' they are. Like anyone can really describe what they mean by 'great' anymore. I can simply say I can relate ( with what parts make sense to me ) to this song. I think that's what truly makes a song 'great' to any given individual, is just how much one can relate and agree on what the artist is expressing in their music. That, to me is what makes a song great, not just listening to it because it's what everybody else is listening too. And then it becomes all about some retarded artist's 'latest hot smash hit' every other week. Here, I'm getting off subject. I sorta realized ( when stoned, heh ), I think, what Kurt might have meant by: " Here we are now, Entertain us. " What I think it means, is ' Okay, you adults have fought for our attention, now here we are finally. Entertain us with what it is you want, or we're gone. ' Then again, I was intoxicated, so more than likely, I'm wrong. But hell, I had to actually comment on what a song meant to me sooner or later instead of just commenting how I have nothing to comment about, which is what I've been doing all the while on this confounded site. Adding onto Sound's comment, this is also one of their better songs on the album, I'd have to say. That's not to say, however, that all the songs on Primitive are great, this one just stands out more. Though my father is still alive and somewhat well, I still feel this song will one day relate to me, somehow.
