i'm pretty positive he sings "let's" after those lines, mister fakeestate. hate to shatter that one for you.
but, you're right; the weakerthans are all about the small details. i really do love how the literary quotes in the liner notes of all their albums slowly start to tie into the lyrics of each and every song.

i always thought it would just be kind of neat to have a bio about Evergreen. i've heard so many things about them, but not many have actually heard their music, let alone know anything about them.

i don't think this song is necessarily about rape, per se. i think it's just about a relationship gone sour in the teenaged years. sometimes, someone will take the passion further than what the other person wants. i don't necessarily think that's rape (though some may disagree), just going a little too far. i think that's what this is getting at.
if that made any sense at all.

I'm not a christian, and I doubt that I ever will be.
However, this song is intensely beautiful. It has the power to bring me to tears sometimes. It's just put together so well. And so well-written. Everything about this song is absolutely amazing. |

I'm shocked I'm the first one to comment on this song. This is probably my favourite song VNV Nation has ever done (well, most of my favourites come from the Futureperfect cd, really). I think of it as my anthem. It gets me going when I hear it. I'll play it when I'm depressed and it'll lift me like no other song really has ever done to me before. |
