| Strung Out – No Voice of Mine Lyrics

From reading what's been written here, it's clear to me that all of you are under the age of 22, are extremely impressionable, and can't think for yourselves. Of course elected officials are speaking for you. That's why you voted for them. That's democracy. Just because punk bands sing about how the government is flawed, doesn't mean you should believe it. That's what punk was formed on. REBELLION. Punk bands have always been singing about what a horrible job the current president is doing. They did it with the first Bush, they did it with Clinton, and now they're doing it with George W. It will always be that way... I suggest you all grow up and speak your own voice and realize what you're saying... in the words of H2O "before you go waving flags, you better know what they stand for" |

I agree with jamfan 100%. Probably mostly because that's the situation my girl and I were in. She was kind of in a relationship with a guy when I met her. I kept listening to this song, and it gave me the hope I needed to carry on. We have been happily together for some time now. |

This song draws many ideas from Emerson's. It's saying that the easiest, most traveled way of life isn't necessarily the best. Get out there, and try your hardest. |

Rise Against is THE revival of punk. It's so great to see a newer band that "keeps it real." I HATE all the new POP"punk" bands that are out now. Rise against brings it back to the way it should be. Good ole hard, fast, punk rock with a message. Love these guys. Also, Tim is one of the nicest dudes. I had the honor of interviewing him at Randall's Island, truly a great guy |

Definitely agree with ChyldeOfTheLotus on the meaning of this song. Amazing song. The intro leads to so much build up, and when the song kicks in it's like a punch in your face, fucking awesome song. |

This song's about kids at the early punk shows going nuts to the music. Going through tight winds, losing their minds, come on people. Go to any punk show nowadays and you'll see the same thing going on. Provided of course you listen to punk and not pop stuff like Simple Plan and New Found Glory type bands. |

Toxikdvd86, grow up, and bam, you are true in what you say about Jim's qualms, but you have to realize that he's been all over the world and has seen alot more than any of us. Although he does have his qualms with the way the U.S. is run, he knows that this is the greatest place to live, and that's what keeps him here. |

| Pennywise – Let's Go Some Some Pot Lyrics

|
NUFAN, thank you very much for pointing this out to the wanna be punk rockers that think a band as serious and deep as Pennywise would write a song entitled "Let's Go Smoke Some Pot". And to all of you kids that think this is a Pennywise song, you should not even consider yourselves fans of punk rock. Any true punk would know that this song is not a Pennywise song, and would be ashamed to admit it if they thought it was. My advice to all you little kids: Grow up, listen to good bands, and enjoy punk rock for what it is. P.S. sorry to anyone that I have offended in this little blurb, but it's the truth and if you can't deal with it, oh well. |

Hardcore anthem. Plain and simple. These guys are great. It's hard to find a band that can put on such an energetic show. I've seen the band live over 10 times and counting. If you've never seen them before, do yourself the favor and do it when you get the chance. |

ATDILoser, I am totally with you on this one. I can't stand the fuckin little kids that listen to Simple Plan or New Found Glory or some shitty pop band like that and think they're punk. They don't understand what the hell punk is. I've been listening to this music for the past about 13 years now. I'm "punker" than most people will ever be, and the best part, you wouldn't know it by looking at me. A true punk is punk on the inside, not becuase of what he wears. |

Once again, another song written about a relationship going sour. It's unclear to me whether this relationship was a platonic or romantic one, but it's apparent that he just wants to end the fight that they're in. Excellent music, and of course great lyrics. |

Pennywise, Strung Out, Bad Religion. My three favorite bands in that order. Undoubtedly three of the most talented punk bands ever. Also without a doubt the best lyricists punk has ever seen. No matter how much you like NOFX, you can't compare Fat Mike's lyrics to Jim Lindberg, Jason Cruz, or Greg Graffin and Brett Gurewitz. |

The idea of writing this song about Jim Cherry is a very good one, but correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't American Paradox completed before the passing of Jim? I can definitely see this song being written for Greg Graffin. The lyrics all point toward someone who can write songs with deep meaning, and we all know that Mr. Graffin is excellent at that. Just my two cents. |

I've always loved this song growing up, but it wasn't until I was about 15 years old when I read the lyrics to it while driving with my father. This song had such an effect on me that it nearly brought tears to my eyes. It had a very deep impact on me because I can relate to everything he's singing about. Highway 9 is about 5 minutes from my house, the remains of the Palace is in Asbury Park down by the "House that Bruce built", aka The Stone Pony. Great song, great band. |

Definitely one of the best songs of all time. This song is an anthem that can touch just about anyone who listens to it. Although there may not be one single meaning, this song has the ability to take on different meanings to different people. Seeing this song performed live is a truly amazing experience. I'm only a 21 year old college student, but growing up in the town next to Bruce, and the town in which Max Weinberg lives, it's hard not to listen to and to love Bruce, especially after meeting him. A true stand-up guy. |

This song's about someone who was very insecure about themselves for a long time, and therefore was a "follower". Now that this person has grown, he's realizing that it's much better to lead than follow. He was able to turn his life around before it was too late. To me this is Millencolin's best. |

Killer song. Definitely the craziest on American Paradox. I believe this song, along with so many others from Strung Out, is about a fucked up relationship. She continues to destroy him and he keeps coming back for more. He leaves himself wide open to be hurt over and over again. It's all he ever knew. I absolutely love these guys. |

I agree with ultraviolet somewhat. I remember seeing Strung Out when they were touring for Twisted By Design. When they played this song, Jason preceeded it by telling the crowd it's about kiling your girlfriend. Although he didn't actually kill her, he did in his drunken/subconscious dream. After killing her, due to the anguish he felt, he returned to where he buried her to forever sleep next to her by killing himself there. If you like this song you'd like Matchbook, Ultimate Devotion, Bring Out Your Dead, Firecracker, and just about every other Strung Out song. |

Right now, this is probably my favorite song. I just fucked up in what could have been a great relationship, and although we try to act like nothing's happened, "...I can see it in (her) eyes and hear it in (her) voice..." and it is obvious that all we could have had has run its course. This was always one of my favorite Strung Out songs, but now that i'm in the same predicament, it has a whole new meaning to me. The lyrics and music are so perfectly blended that no one could have done it better. Great song for anyone who's in a relationship that's ending, and we've all been there. |

By far my favorite Pennywise song. This song really gives you insight into Jason Thirsk's troubled world. As he looks at himself, he knows he's lying to himself by saying he doesn't have a problem when he really does. If you are a true PW fan, I'm sure you've noticed that many of the older songs have the same "feel" to them. The reason for this is Jason wrote almost all the songs while he was in PW, and he wrote from his heart about real subjects and real problems. His presence in the punk world is greatly missed. |

I have always considered this song my second favorite Pennywise song. After the incident on Sept. 11, it was tied for first. Why should we send money overseas to other countries when WE ourselves need help. We should help our own country before helping some FUCKING middle eastern country that's going to return the favor by dropping a bomb on us. If you like the lyrical content to this song, listen to "Veteran" by Ignite. To end this little blurb, I choose a line from that very song. "The cuts in care and medicaid leads me to believe our government just doesn't care. They send our aid, our misspent funds. American's hungry living in the gutter." - Ignite |

To me, this is always among my top 5 Pennywise songs. It's an anthem that everyone should listen to. Definitely pertains to the "live fast, die young" theme, but not so directly. We never no what's goin to happen, so live each and every single day to the fullest, and always try to learn from your mistakes and make the best of what you're given.

Does anyone realize that this song was actually written by Jason Thirsk and appeared on their first Epitaph album, "Pennywise"? It was written in memory of 3 of their friends who died, Tim Colvin, Carlos Canton, and Tom Nichols. When Jason blew his head off in '96, the fellas from PW thought honoring their best friend's life with a song he wrote would be a great way to remember him. |

Without a doubt one of the best Strung Out songs. Their lyrics are so tight. Strung Out is definitely among the most talented punk bands ever. Between Rob Ramos' blaring guitar riffs, Jason Cruz's deep, heartfelt lyrics, and Jordan Burns' sonic drumbeats, this band is amazing.
