I absolutely LOVE the imagery in this song... "her window was hung like a painting" and "then one night she climbed out of the picture frame, into the frozen air, and out of sight"... *melt* (sorry to be a copy-cat, freddysgirl) this is just an extraordinary, melancholy, beautiful piece of work, and i live for the piano theme... perfect ben folds. |

i see the song this way: the guy and girl are having this conversation, and the biggest part of the lyrics isn't what they're saying, it's what they're thinking....hoping... so much is just implied in what they're saying to each other. this song is just like an unfinished story... they'll see each other there, but we never find out what happens... i like to think that he finds out he's the girl of his dreams... but that's just me.
this reminds me of one of my best friends who i'm in love with... he has brown eyes, and doesn't fit in, and bucks the new trends.. heeee. this always makes me think about him.
i think my favorite line in the song is "wearing the smile i bring you"... it just says so much. *sigh*. and i'm rambling. but i love this song. |
