Look wiseass, I made a polite, PC posting because I wanted a debate, not to be flamed. That's what this fucking site is all about, discussing the meaning of songs. Did I once say that to be Christian is the only way? Did I once try to preach to anyone on this board? Did I even once say that I *am* Christian? No. I simply mentioned my Christian background, which is where the basis for my opinion on the whole rainbow thing comes from. Should I take your's or Eminem's mentions of smoking pot as preaching? I should hope not. Jesus, I hope you are that easily offened in real life. On that note, if drugs are your only 'escape from the boredom', I pity you. If you're really struggling to make ends meet, what the fuck are you doing spending good money on drugs? I bet it would cost less to go to a movie then to have one joint. If you want to hear about real pain, pick up some blues or jazz. Just go to your local library and borrow a CD or tape. It's worth it. To be honest, the only real problem I have with Eminem is the perpetual cuss words he uses. Not that cussing offends me, I'm definately not known for a clean mouth. But there are just so many other words in the English language that are more suitable when it comes to expressing yourself. It's hard for me to see what Eminem does as art when all he does is rely on the same four-letter words. Sure, I'm a nerd. I'm a musician too. That's something Eminem will never be. At least I'm not a burnout like you. |

I don't know if some of y'all are just typing to fast for your brains or what.. but .. uhhh... can we try to fix some typos so I know what the hell you're talking about? Rebel_01.. you make me giggle... first your all angry and stuff and then your grabbing popcorn... lol I just have one question, personaly, I would call the 'music' behind rap techno. so if no one listens to techno.. does that mean no one listens to rap? And then there's a whole homosexuals: good or bad debate in there that I just don't wanna start. |

I just have a few points. 1.) First of all. I disagreew ith the whole 'rainbow meaning homosexuality". I belive it as a source of hope (from my own Christian background) and just something that's fun and, dare I say, pretty. I don't know who started the whole homosexual connection, but I don't like it. 2.) Eminem is talented in his own way. Personaly, I don't like him. He's too angry. I've had a less-than-perfect life before also. Lemme tell ya, I've lived almost everywhere. Doesn't mean I want the world to preform sexual favors for me. You just kinda move on. 4.) I'm from Michigan... The fact that this state has produced artists such as Kid Rock, Eminem and Modonna makes me sad. I mean, look at the great hits back in Mowtown days (granted, I wasn't alive then.. but work with me here...). Days when harmony ruled and it was cool to wear matching tailored outfits.... ahhh.. to go back to the fifties... *ahem* but anyways.... I don't think Eminem's talented or a genius or even the kind of person I'd like to meet... but if you feel otherwise, that's your opinion. If you want to see talent, go to an syphony preformance. Or even your local high school band's concert. Or, if you can find em, pic up some real old jaz albums... you know, the kind when *real* rap ruled. *That's* talent. |

*hands soulfly a towel* Please clean up your sarcasm. :) I agree with your interpretation. Parents seem to always be trying to get their teenagers attention- or at least complaining about not being able to. And with the video featuring a school assembly it makes even more sense. I really think the song is not just about teen life, but possibly about events that happened in Kurt's teenage years. Just my... other two cents? *smiles and nods* Yes. :) |

Although I agree greatly with alot of people, I don't think you can say what song is the greatest. I mean, people have opinions, who is anyone to tell someone else their opinion is wrong? I think Smells Like Teen Spirit is a wonderful song. As a moody teenager (and female on top of that lol) it's just nice to have a song relating to crappy teen life that you can pump up in the car and scare old people with. :) My friend and I just drive around when we're pissed and have great songs like SLTS on max. Basically, you can't name a greatest song and have everyone agree with you. It's possible, but not probable. *plink plink* There go my two cents. |
