| Thanks, AugustWinterman...im a christian too, everyone gives me flak about listening to "satanic" music....my opinion is that its the opinion of the guy singing the lyrics and doesnt affect my opinion any, i think its wrong to refuse to listen to someone because they have different opinions than you.....and on a second note, CoF was my favorite band until i realized there are plenty of bands that are better......Limbonic Art, Graveworm, Elysian Fields, Vesperian Sorrow, and Hecate Enthroned to name a few.....but Limbonic Art is my favorite | |

CoF is great....but they arent totally different from everything else....everything else in America. Try listening to Limbonic Art, Dimmu Borgir, Graveworm, Hecate Enthroned, Arcturus, Asgaroth, Nokturnal Mortum.....all good bands, Limbonic Art is my favorite band if you only pick one.....but anyway.....has anyone ever considered the possibility from Her Ghost in the Fog that Dani's true love really was raped and killed, or maybe just killed....he seems to write about it a lot...and i mean a lot......there are several songs about just that....like suicide and other comforts and her ghost in the fog and there are countless ones that allude to it in a verse or two.....but from this song, take a particular look at the lines: An eye for an eye as espied in the bible My faith is lost to the burning of idols One less cross to press upon the survival Of this lorded agony And I, (much as I have tried To bury Her from mind, Fate's tourniquet was tied, when She died...) Just a thought....ive been listening to this song all day trying to figure out just what it meant. The best i can come up with is that it is about a person who has done something terrible. The, There's a shadow just behind me, Shrouding every step i take, making every promise empty, pointing every finger at me. Waiting like a stalking butler who upon the finger rests. Murder now the path called "must we" just before the son has come. Comes across in my mind as a man filled so heavily with guilt that he can hardly function in his life. Of course the I am just a worthless liar part is self-explanatory.....the best i can do with the chorus about being sober and sleeping is that he has taken to drinking and sleeping all the time to get away from his guilt.....anyway, im probly wrong but this is the best i can do with this song |

| Hey, a like this forum no one is yelling at each other and being hostile. I personally see this song as someone who was in a bad argument or fight with someone they love dearly and they are praying to their god afterward asking for help with forgiveness or help letting the relationship go and walk away, as both would be equally hard. | |

| yeah, i can definitely see the thing with his mother and stepfather, the main reason i took it the way i did was that i can relate to it that way.....my girlfriend and i live like 900 miles apart, we talk constantly on the computer and phone but we rarely get to see each other, and so when we do its just hard to leave.....thats why the song meant what it did to me | |

| first off, you people have very valid points here. I admit i knew nothing of his issue with his stepfather and things of his childhood. But I took a different take on this song. I think eleven symbolizes him being forced apart from someone he loves. "what was it like to see the face of your own stability suddenly look away, leaving you with the dead and hopeless?" that could be when he was forced to leave the one he loved. "eleven and she was gone, eleven is when we waved goodbye, eleven is standing still, waiting for me to free him by coming home" coming home is being able to return to the one he loves.......at the end he says until 1 and 1 are 1......1 and 1 are him and the one he loves....2 people......when they become one they are together again....also if you notice the number 11 is two one's (two people) separated......oh well, its just an opinion i came up with on my own, take it for what its worth. | |
