uhm...no...not at all, back in the 80's when you were under 21 they put X's on your hands so they new you couldnt drink and the culture just kind of tagged it on. also, he did not define straight edge, coin the term or anything of the sort just wrote a damn good song about it. teen idles were calling themselves straight edge before this song came out. ive been sXe for two and a half years, this being after getting over an addiction to anxiety medication that almost killed me. i wont even take prescriptions or drink caffeine now, i want to keep my body as pure as possible. ive never really worn X's, only at shows where i know there will be drugs. i dont preach though, thats just annoying. |

them starting with this song nearly killed me, i saw them in a hot crowded club with bad religion so all the hardcore kids kept trying to push people around in the skank pits and when they started everyone got thrown at least 20 feet. |

this is one of those songs that everyone likes, its relaxing, euphoric even...i was just getting into playing music and was really young (like 8 or 9 or 10 or something...i dont know, 4th grade) when i first got this cd but it has been my favorite weezer song since and im going into 11th grade now. i understand it more now though and to me its just talking about how perfect this person is and you cant help but love them yet there is something keeping them from you so all you can do is dream about them and wish they were yours. The musical part seems to serve the purpose of showing how great that dream really is.
but thats just my opinion. |
