I actually think this song is about the benifits of Capitalism. I won't go through a point counterpoint with UnSeenSoul but you could just about put switch the two words and it would still make sense. Basically, Communism oppresses more people than capitalism, and the Socialist and Communist governments that have failed failed because they were starving their masses. So, assuming Capitalism can provide the solution of food for people and freedom from oppresion the metaphor can be reversed. Or pussy...Whatever floats your boat. |

I agree with most of the people on here when they say that this song is about becoming the very thing you used to despise, in his example from a hippie to "the institution". However, I believe that this song is most importantly about growing up. About making the transition from youth and idealism to a more realistic person. It's a sad song, but personally one of my favorites on the album. |
