I saw John Mayer play in Boston on July 18, 2002. It was the best show of my life. Anyway, that concert was the first time he ever played Big Sky Country live for an audience. It was incredible. One of the reasons I love John Mayer is that not only does he know how to write and play music, he recognizes that a good cover can make all the difference in a live show. His neverending creativity makes his shows great. I am sure anyone who has seen him live can attest to his greatness. I love that he is unique with his choice of covers...have you ever heard anyone else play Big SKy Country (besides Chris Whitley himself of course)? I appreciate that John doesn't just play Timie after Time or one of the other standard covers like everyone else. Rock On John! Keep the songs (and covers!) coming! |

Um Paperface, not to be difficult, but why insult John Mayer, when he is obviously a Chris Whitley fan like yourself. He obvously at least has impeccable taste in music. Music is love...let's keep it that way. |

This is such a great song. I wish this band was more popular because they are really desevring of success. This song really means a lot to me. It has help me get through some really tough times. Someone I love very much was murdered about a year ago and the lyrics:
In this beautiful life there's always some sorrow
And it's a double-edged knife, but there's always tomorrow
Oh you know, It's up to you now if you sink or swim,
Just keep the faith and you're ship will come in it's not so bad
convey an attitude that I am struggling to maintain....but this song and others like it have really helped me. Music has an incredible healing power and GBS illustrate that. |

This is absolutely my favoriter song right now...I always thought (and still do) that it's about a guy who had this summer fling that just totally touched him but when the summer is over and they leave the beach, it is over too. So think of how many people you have met and said you would write to but just never did, because it isn't the same. ANd then when he gets home, he has been so touched by this person that his entire world is different. And now all he has is his memories. |

This is such a great song....Jack's lyrics never fail to amaze me. I have been listening to this song a lot lately...sometimes it makes me sad, sometimes it makes me happy. It reminds me of my friends and I. We are all going away to school in about two months so this kind of reminds me of how it's our last summer together. So we do all our favorite old things but then come Monday we still have to get on the bus, so to speak, and leave. COME TO BOSTON JACK! |

At the risk of sounding ridiculously cliche....this song speaks to me. I have been in a relationship like this in the past. Being apart from the person you care for. He is all you can think about. In a way, you are always together even when you are apart. |
