| To be honest, I kind of agree with speratical, especially about her lyrics. This song impress me as highly juvenille, although considering she's 17, I suppose she has a reason for it... The lines "He was a skater boy, she said see you later boy" and "We are in love, haven't you heard, how we rock eachothers world?" make me physically cringe. Excluding this particular song, she's "fair", but I definitely wouldn't label her punk; she's alternapop through and through. | |

In my opinion, I don't think this song is as somber or dark as it initially comes off. I believe its more a tounge-in-cheek look at the 'gothic' stereotype. Lines such as "Will she trick or treat/I bet she will", and "Lilly Munster/Ain't got nothing on you" suggest a gently mocking tone. Coupled with the chorus that gives this song its name, "You can't go out 'cause your roots are showing/Dye 'em black" , and I think its overall a very humorous tune. Judging by the tone set with these statements, I think the first and last verse tie up the song as an archetypal representation of a brooding gothic female. |
