It seems helpless/sarcastic. I don't know how to describe it. The video is unusual ( in a good way). really creative. From just the lyrics, it could be about someone who is dying but doesn't want to. He convinces himself it's a beautiful world he doesn't want to leave; he doesn't want to let go of what he's used to or leave "everybody here" Or maybe he's not dying, just afraid of change. |

truly haunting song. To me, it suggests domestic abuse. somehow she is stiffled/held back by someone. "nothing hurts/bleeds when covers tucked in tight". -i.e. nothing hurts/bleeds when she can cover it up. -she accepts the abuse and deals with it by imagining "what could have been" and that helps her survive. "she forgets to fight" -she has become so passive and accepts it; it's not worth fighting anymore. "As darkness quickly steals ... She slowly swallows... lies. " -the comparison in these two lines is interesting (quickly/slowly) I think she tries to regain her dignity, self respect etc. by convincing herself she has them, but that is taken away before she can recover. "A day in which the sun.." -the only way she can feel alive again is by escaping this dreary/hurtful existence, maybe by running away. (the sun, of course, symbolizing freedom). "One more day in paradise " -one more day then I'll leave?? she keeps telling herself "Don't pretend to hold it in, just let it out. " as an encouragement. |

Actually, they sing a verse from "this is me in grade " in the version just to taunt the audience. I heard they usually drag into the introduction of "if i had $1000000" for fun.
