To me, it makes the artist that much more credible if she/he can produce her/his own thoughts to make her/his music. The first time I heard this song, I was driving around trying to clear my mind. I listened to the lyrics, especially the part pasted above, and thought to myself, "Wow. That's it Those are the words I was searching for." Even knowing that I'd never say them to the person in mind, hearing them helped me feel better. And even though it's just a song (ie the writer may or may not have every experienced those feelings), I felt reassured and comforted that I wasn't alone in my thoughts, that other people felt things similar to what I was feeling. Music soothes the wounded soul. ~*~ |

It was a good song, the first one million times I heard it. I don't believe she is all she says she is. But, I will say that I think she is a better role model for all than Britney, if only for the reason that she keeps her clothes ON, and her lyrics don't scream "All I want is sex!" At 17, she is making something out of herself... maybe she isn't always doing it honestly, but at least she is showing females out there that young women can be something if they put their minds to it. That's all on Avril. As for those who have posted comments here, how immature is it to call people ugly when you're on the friggin' internet and can't even see them? We're all entitled to our opinions, free from personal attack just because that's what we believe (ie - You think Avril is a hypocrite; therefore, you must be ugly. For English scholars, that is a Non Sequitur fallacy [Latin, I believe, for "it does not follow"]). I sure as hell hope Avril doesn't care what others think of her. If she does, the music business is no place for her to be trying to make a living. |
