Weezer – Only in Dreams Lyrics 23 years ago
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Such a calming song about such an emotional topic. I believe we've all had that ephemeral dream girl/guy that appeared in one dream and never left your mind for two or three weeks. Eating, drinking, talking, singing this person. But it was "Only in Dreams" and never meant to be. Sigh.

The music of this song is magnificent. The dreamlike buildup, playthrough, slowdown, wonderful, wonderful crescendo, and close into waking. There could not be a more perfect choice for the last song on the album.

Weezer – In The Garage Lyrics 23 years ago
When I first heard this song, I was listening to the album all the way through after buying it for 'Buddy Holly' and especially "Say It Ain't So." I got the hugest vibe from Weezer, like this was rock meant for me. "Undone" and "My Name is Jonas" cinched Weezer as my first great musical love. But this song brought the band to my level. I love D&D and had played it the same week that I first listened to the song. The revelation of both D&D and the X-Men totally dumbfounded me: I thought I was the biggest geek in the universe and then they reached out to me and told me I wasn't that weird. When I played it for my gamer friends, all they did was smile and nod their heads to the beat--they knew this was a great song from a great band.

Oh yeah, and the d12 is a much-overlooked die that needs its due. Thanks, Rivers.

Aphex Twin – 4 Lyrics 23 years ago
This song isn't about not doing drugs. This song came out years before that ad. I'm more than happy to see some of Richard's work in the mainstream, but it's not about drugs. I don't know what it's about. It's a fairly relaxing track and, like several tracks on the Richard D. James Album, calms me no matter what mood I'm in.
