I really really don't think this song is about a country at all. I mean, your entitled to your interpretation, but I think thats stretching it quite a bit. With that said.. I don't if anyone has ever played Vampire: The Masquerade... but, this song instantly brought to mind the life of a vampire, particulary the ones that exist in that game world. Thats how I see it anyway.. its about a specific person... Dark Angel/Vampire who lives among people but unknown to them "faces i'd assumed".. and ultimately about redemption.. "to right what you have suffered". I see the speaker, the narrator of this song as a tragic figure, driven to secretly right wrongs. And only in time will it become evident way. Particular key words for me were "darkened skies" and "mortal cities" implying for me that the narrator is not human. Thats my take anyhow.. I love the song. |
