the line

is awfully similar to the boys night out song "i got punched in the nose for sticking my face in other peoples business" when they say:
"I hate being famous for my hits and never for my misses "
i think the only reason i even make this comparison is because the song title is unnecessarily long and has a violent undertone, which is something boys night out has been doing for years.
and before someone replies and tells me that fall out boy is awesome and that i need to shut the fuck up, i've been listening to fall out boy since they were local. i can criticize and still enjoy it. |

DPF... Most talented bands? Have you been living in a nu-metal cave for the past decade? Honestly now, can you really back that statement up? The only one with a little bit of talent is their drummer (one of the three, not the shithead clown and not the other faggot, joey or whatever his name is) and he's not even that good. The guitar is laughable, the vocals are shit, and I wouldn't call sampling a talent. I could play Slipknot's guitar parts with my penis. I dont' consider using the same old power chords over and over talent. There is no innovation. The lyrics suck. They are sell outs. They wear masks. They have gay fans. There is nothing right with this band. They give satanic bands a bad name. Also, you should work on your grammar man. You go from future to past tense quite often. i really hate to say it since im not a religious person, but i think this songs about god.

the different kind of love is his love for god. and i see a connection between "warm our hands in blood" and stigmata, the wounds of christ.
"i need you more than i'll ever know.
until i stop breathing,
my lungs will take you for granted."
that pretty much sums it up, he talks about playing the perfect song for god and all that, and this tops it off. god created him, and until he dies hes not going to give much recognition to god, he cant accept how much gods done for him.
sorry to say it, since i hate jesus-rock, but its about god in my opinion. it doesn't make the song any worse though, it's still greatness. |

By the way, I listen to many bands that as you say "Fall into the wide category of emo." I just have diverse musical tastes and I enjoy listening to bands with talent, such as DEP. I'll agree the new DEP ep is shit, but Calculating Infinity was some of the most innovative, brilliant work I've ever heard. I hated it at first, but I gave it a few listens and you start to hear the beauty in the ugliness of the music, the insane complexity of their guitars, and the odd timings they use. Listen to their cd and try and have almost any drummer you know try and play most of the stuff on it. Most of it is so different they would have to take it second by second and memorize each pattern, because it often never does the same thing twice. |

Ok, first of all, jadster, just because one or more of the members in Thrice is Christian, doesn't make them a "Christian band". Christian bands suck, look at Creed. You are right though in disagreeing with Your Biznatch, because she's really off. I'm guessing she's probably going through, or went through this in life and just wanted the song to relate to it, so she sees in that way. There's no problem with this, because that could be what the song means to her, but what most people are going for is what the song's original meaning was when the artist wrote it.
I think, the song is simply about love, and he's saying you need just the right person and amount of love in the relationship. Too much or too little of these factors (or "chemicals" in the song) can be disastrous. The ending, my favorite part of the song, possibly the whole cd, is talking about how once they realize that no relationship is perfect, they need to stay together. "When this frame fails me" is talking about the picture perfect relationship everyone thinks they has at the beginning, and realizing it's not true and every relationship has it's problems "Will I trust you to carry me through?" is obvious enough, will she stick with him? "I know theres no such thing as safety but I know what a promise can do" He knows there's never perfection in a relationship, and you can't be totally sure everything is going to work out, but trust is ever so imporant, and is what keeps you together. I think that's a pretty accurate breakdown of things, but if anyone disagrees, I'd like to hear your idea of it. |

The girl he's describing is too beautiful for everyone and she knows it, "She was divinity's creature" means she was perfect, god's child. "that kissed in cold mirrors", this means that she knew of her beauty. The mirror is a reflection of herself, and it's cold because narcisism is a negative thing. The intro "the moon, she hangs like a cruel portrait..." is foreshadowing the entire story, especially in the lines "fear and pain may accompany death, but it is desire that shepards its certainty" That is saying that her perfection is going to be what kills her, the other mens desires of what they can't have make them rape and kill her. Anyways the rest is basically self explanatory. Brilliant lyrics. |

I think the thing about this band's lyrics that amazes me is the level of simplicity maintained while still being very good. The writer is able to paint an exact picture of what is happening in the song by being very brief and to the point. It's an approach that usually turns out bad when it's used, but this guy does it right. Bad ass song as well. |

I am not amused: I'm not trying to prove you wrong or anything with this post, I'm just kind of curious as to what makes the guy look like he's trying to sound intelligent. There's not a word in the song which isn't common knowledge among anyone who's been through school past eigthgrade. I'm no siding with these people making ridiculous attempts to "diss" you, and I'm not siding with you either. I'm more of an "emo" (i hate this term, but use it for lack of a better one) fan now, but I used to listen to all that extreme underground metal stuff. That's the stuff where the lyrics are intelligent and use words tht are really big, but the guys don't try to look smart. They actally are smart. Dani of Cradle of Filth for example, wether you love or hate the band, you have to admit some of the lyrics are beautifully written. A Gothic Romance (Red Roses for the Devil's Whore) is a beautiful poem, and on Cruelty and the Beast he even uses some meter and rhyme schemes. I think Thirteen Autumns and A Widow is in Iambic Pentameter, but I can't quite remember and I think it changes somwhere in the song. Anyways, keep fucking with people. It's pretty hilarious to read. |

For the guy who said Andrew W.K. is in it for the music, that's complete bullshit. Any artist can say that, it creates a false idea in his fan's heads that he's deep and unconcerned with money. You hear rappers say that they do it for the love of the music all the time, but then they go on to rap about having fifty mercedes and how many rolexes are on their wrists. I don't think I know a single person who likes this song. No critics seem to like it either, any review I've seen it scored no higher than 2 (out of 10). Of course the Andrew W.K. Nazis are gonna say "i dun giv no fuck wut no critic thinks! he iz gay! i just wanna get drunk!" Music is an art, not a celebration of being white-trash. If you were to picture this song as a painting, it would be some redneck passed out next to his girlfriend missing some teeth, both not having showered in days, clutching a near empty bottle of Jack Daniels. I believe I've spent to much time on this atrocity. It's not deserving of the time I spent complaining about it, but you people who listen to this pathetic excuse for music just pissed me off.
BTW last time I checked musicians were supposed to possess something called MUSICAL ABILITY.
