"But perhaps he should lead by example ? lol "
umm... I think he lives a perfect example. He is now more well known for his good work in the community, than as "that dude from Midnight Oil". I think he is a wonderful role model and he's done wonders for this country. |

This song reminds me of a violent exboyfriend and my escape from him.
"but your anger so unspoken and unchannelled permeates my essence to the point where I
Don't want to see you hear you, be anywhere near you,
you probably think I'm threatened by you but your illusionary power doesn't threaten me" |

I agree that it is one of their best songs and should have been included on the album. All their songs are better live!! |

To me its talking of losing someone who was close to you. You can't see why you're not as close and this upsets you, then half way through the song is the realisation that there are other people around you too and you have to focus on what you have and not what you dont. Keep going forwards and don't dwell in the past. |

Yes the lyrics are wrong. If you listen to the piano solo version where you can hear Billy singing a lot clearer you can here him sing 'He', 'She' and then 'They'. I'm going to submit a correction. |

Its profound, and it speaks to me like WastedYouth said, but its just irritating! Probably the worst Smashing Pumpkins song I've heard. I always skip this track on my CD |

Are you sure the lyrics are right? When I've heard this (over and over!) I hear "I know HE likes to rock" and "I know SHEs watching me". i remember the first time I heard it I expected it to only speak of the male side of god and was amazed when it addressed god as male and female. I will have to go and listen to it again.
To me this is more a song of seeking god and not knowing where to start. Perhaps pertaining to the multitude of religions and the multitude of ideas about god. Wanting to be shown a little direction and knowing that its a personal journey at the same time. "Throwing stones" for the attention of god, but perhaps god is "one of us" - within ourselves, not distant. |
