| Bright Eyes – Falling Out of Love at This Volume Lyrics

i think this song is about verbal fighting in a relationship. in a way, this song applies to most relationships. i can relate to it in a way... when my girlfriend starts bitching about something that i don't want to hear, i tend to find something to tune her out. she does the same with me too. although this song goes a little more in depth. i can just see conor playing his guitar and some girl yelling "you're worthless... i wish you would die" or "i could always be with someone else". to me, it seems like it's about participating in a relationship because you don't know how else to live. i could be way off base here and probably am. oh well. |

to me, this song is about all of those who got away because i was too afraid to do anything, because i was too messed up in the head and depressed, because i had such a low self esteem. it reminds me of the time where i despised others who were in relationships and i couldn't understand why i couldn't join them. this song screams of all those years i was indulged in self-pity, depression, and pain. |

| Jimmy Eat World – Claire Lyrics

to me, the end of the relationship j.e.w. sings about is nearly inevitable. however, he still wants the relationship to continue (i can still see you around). i think the song is about the hard choices we have to make in our life & the refusal to see obvious changes occuring (attention focused on today)
i covered this song with my friend josh at an open mic i hosted. we each played an acoustic guitar, him on lead. i sang the lyrics & he did the back-up & harmony vocals. this is the song that first got me interested in jimmy eat world. |

| Dashboard Confessional – Living In Your Letters Lyrics

first i'd like to comment about the version on summer's kiss. friends of mine who are fans of dashboard don't really like it because it's too slow for them. to me, it adds to the emotion. when it picks up towards the end (so i'll hit the pavement it's gotta be better than waiting), the desperation is clear in chris's voice.
i'm currently in a somewhat long distant relationship (only 1 hour apart, possibly more depending on traffic) and have been for the majority of our now 2 month relationship. i can't count the times i've gone over the things she's given me... be it pictures, drawings, letters, etc. although we don't really write to each other, i guess i'm living for the nightly phone calls. |

me again... just wanted to clarify something: to me, the lead singer is relating the siren from greek mythology to the girl who broke his heart. |

when i first saw the title of the song, i thought of the siren from greek mythology. this creature had the head of a woman & the body of a bird and enchanted sailors to wreck their ships on the dangerous rocks surrounding their island by singing beautifully. refer to homer's odessy for more on sirens.
to me, the lead singer is referring to a girl who broke his heart (your heart had to let me go). i don't necessarily see a car crash in the lyrical meaning, but more of a flee from reality (now i'd rather die than ever be alone).
it reminds me of the time i was first dumped. i hopped in my car & started driving just to ease my mind. anywayz, that's my whole take on this song. |
