I remember reading in an interview that Stephen said it was a song written for his mother. He either said they don't talk much, or he just can't say what he wants to her, thanking her, but I can't remember because it was so long ago. Beautiful, beautiful song though. |

this song is so amazing. I've listened to it nearly 100 times I'm sure, but when I got my Broken In Pieces cd in today and was listening to this song, it made me cry. Yes, I'm a 17 year old man, and this song has so meaningful lyrics that it broke me down and made me cry. I can relate to this, because my sister is due to have her baby any day now, so the thought of someone taking the life of an unborn is disgusting. I used to have different views on abortion, like it should be ok if it was because of rape, but after hearing this song, my thoughts have changed, and I've realized it's wrong to end one's life for any reason. This is seriousely the saddest song I've ever heard, but beautiful, and I want to listen to it over and over again. |

yea, SilentScream is right. Yours makes more sense, and I just received my Broken In Pieces cd today, and noticed the dedication to their friend. These lyrics are very meaningful and powerful, they sort of make you appreciate your life and the friendships and relationships you have with others. Beautiful song. |

i agree with fortified. However, I think he's asking for help and guidance from God through everyday life, as well as when the times get tough and the sins add up. He's realized that he can't do it on his own ("using my own strength I've failed"), so he prays to God for help ("it brings me to my knees", a common method of praying by dropping to your knees). Fortified hit it dead on, but I just wanted to add how I understand it. |

by far my favorite Stutterfly song. Obviousely about suicide, and how its not the right way to go about a hard life. The lyrics just embrace me, and hold me there, along with the music. This song alone could make Stutterfly one of my favorite bands, the others are just added support, all which i love. |

i'm not sure on the exact meaning, but I think he's talking about freeing and opennign his/others' minds. Also maybe how many have bad thoughts and "their minds tell them they should do something" but they shouldn't always act upon them, and to trust your heart.
I'm probably not right, but I love this song, so I thought I'd give my 2 cents on it. |
