The use of "her" could possibly serve as the key to unlock the meaning of this song. The fact that this individual is in a state of confusion (whether or not to "dive in") leaves him questioning why others (his "crew") have dealt with the same fate. This song is a depiction of a personal struggle for answers in relationships and the ability to overcome the pressure of being alone.
