Ben Folds Five – Emaline Lyrics

Initially Ben wishes it was last September when he first fell for the girl, Emaline. In the beginning of their relationship none of the people he associated with knew Emaline, and they could be together and people never took second notice of it. As time goes on, Ben's friends begin to say that Emaline is too much of a dreamer. "Money" for Ben symbolizes logic. As his relationship with Emaline continues, he begins to believe his friends and think that Emaline is too out of touch with reality. He is now beginning to contemplate ending the relationship with Emalne, but he knows she is so innocent. He wishes he could go back to the time when he appreciated her for being a dreamer when he was less logical and more carefree.

Sometimes when you're in a relationship you can't understand how the other person can be so irrational. You do your best to get them to conform to your logic, but I think Yuuki's right, people need to follow their hearts. Logical thinking isn't always the best modus operandi.

Dylan seems to speak of certain "feminine" characteristics as overtly negative, but, in reality, I feel he admits that these same qualities, i.e. a woman's ability to fake, make love, ache, and break like a little girl are what make men love women so much.

I feel like the song is about being completely infatuated with another person. In the beginning the other person does not know that you are infatuated with them, and this kills you inside. Eventually they realize it, though, and they know they can use this knowledge of your feelings to their advantage and manipulate you however they see fit. This is why he is "trapped" "now that you know."

Sometimes we get caught up in our careers and our lives. It seems like the only way to find happiness is to travel far away and experience different, interesting things, but, in reality, when you find the person that makes you happy that's what is important. Sitting at home with someone you love can be just as rewarding and entertaining as traveling to a far away place or doing something crazy.

Modest Mouse – 3rd Planet Lyrics

I had to write a paper on this papal letter once for a Western Civ class and I wasn't too interested in the letter so I started searching for some inspiration. I put on the Mouse CD and there it was in the first line of Third Planet. "Everything that keeps me together is falling apart." I used that as my intro line to write a paper talking about the deteriorating steadfasts of human and societal morality. So there you have it, Modest Mouse, proves inspirational in many different circumstances.

The Promise Ring – Happiness Is All The Rage Lyrics	23 years ago
Once I was feeling rather depressed, and I sat down in a field at Connecticut College's Floralia Festival. All of a sudden, this cover band comes on and plays this song and it reminded me that "happiness is all the rage." I couldn't help but to smile.
