I think that he is writing this song to his mother. Is it that she died recently because he talks about "you always did your best" and "I wonder how I'm suppose to carry on when you're gone" sorta how single mothers stuggle after a divorce. |

Has anyone noticed that the TBS line "we won't stand for hazy eyes anymore" is really similar to a Jimmy Eat World song called "A Sunday" where i think the line is something like "the haze clears from your eyes, on a sunday". Anyone know if this was deliberate or just a coincidence?? |

Thought i'd add to the unanimous outpouring of ardor for JEW as well. The outro/musical melody gets me lost in the moment and sometimes i almost don't feel anything from the outside world during those 14 or so minutes. Oh and by the way Staywhatyouare, harbour is indeed spelled harbour like colour, armour, and flavour for Canadians, English, Australian, New Zelanders, and pretty much the rest of the english speaking world, besides the United States, of course. |

I can really relate to this song as i spent 3 months in europe on an exchange. These are the exact thoughts that i had over there thinking about friends and family... does anyone even care when you're away?? How long before you just fade away into a memory after being "out of sight, out of mind" for so long??. Guaranteed powerful for anyone away from home for a long period of time. |

one of my favourites..
"like a saturday night i'll be gone before you knew i was there"
"quiet is my loudest cry"
He's in love with a girl that dosen't even notice him and it's tearing him up inside trying to find a way to tell her his feelings and can't find the right way, or is that just me? hmm... |

| Something Corporate – Cavanaugh Park Lyrics

A great song... it manages to go from when he was a little kid playing with his father ( "Son, one day you'll be a man.
"And men can do terrible things.") to hanging out with his friends ("We used to get high watching teams as they fought") to his getting older and looking back on his life ("I used to think that my life would be good"). SoCo has such an incredible range to tackle the story of a person's entire life and pull it off so wonderfully.

| Something Corporate – Globes & Maps Lyrics

This song is up there with Konstantine and Hurricane as one of the best by Something Corporate, but when i first heard it the emotion totally blew me away, even more than Konstantine. Now as i look at the lyrics i think that the song is about a failed relationship that had one final rendezvous after going their seperate ways ("[Light] Fall all around us on our hotel floor"). He wants to stay together but sees the same signs of the past relationship that tell him it won't work out ("globes and maps I see surround you here, Why won't you believe me? ") and he wants to break it off ("I write a letter, from a one-way train But i don't think you'll read it at all") but she wants to stay together even if he is leaving.

The harder I push, the further I fall.
That one line makes the song for me. The more that's put into a relationship (or a friendship) the greater the rewards and the difficulties that come with that intimacy. Well that's just my sappy opinion... |
